MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Madison authorities seized more than three dozen roosters allegedly used for cockfighting.

The raid of a south side residence also resulted in the arrest of a 47-year-old man on a tentative felony charge of instigating animal fights.

Police Officer Howard Payne said 37 roosters were found in a caged living area at the address.

He said, “They also found a dedicated area for fighting activity with animals and an observation area where chairs were set up.” According to Payne, “It looked like a scene for cockfighting.”

The roosters were taken to the Dane County Humane Society shelter Tuesday night to be held as part of the investigation.

The Dane County Humane Society announced it's plans for Chickenfest this morning. Three and two-piece chicken dinners will be sold at the fund-raiser Tuesday night. Take-out friers will also be available.

Oh, the article is talking about fowl. Pardon me, I thought "cockfighting" was something else.
