Car submerged; no serious injuries
JANESVILLE – A vehicle is submerged in the Rock River, and a woman involved in the incident was taken away by ambulance at about 1:55 p.m. Thursday.
The woman appeared shaken but not seriously injured. Janesville paramedics put a neck brace on her.
The accident is on the west side of the Centerway Bridge, on the north side of Centerway, near a parking lot behind the brick building, a spot often used for fishing.
Fire and police units are at the scene. A dive team and a wrecker have been called.

just glad no one was really hurt.....bet the carp moved fast seeing that car coming in their "home" best luck to the driver I hope you are all right. This could have been a lot worse had the car gotten further out into the current and stuck on the dam or pushed over it. I hope she wasn't text messaging when this happened..... STAY SAFE!!

Your self-effacing sense of humor says a lot about you in a positive way. Not that it would mean anything to you but you just earned my respect.

I saw the car in the water as I was driving over the Centerway bridge. I called 911 and the incident had not been reported prior to my call. This was about 1:45. If you look at the attached picture the car was in the river close to the billboard sign, by the brick building

That's scary. I have nightmares about that dam because when I was little someone told me about the undertow.

Remember, Centerway becomes Center Ave. at Five Points.
.
haaseman27, good that you can laugh at yourself! I hope this woman, being not seriously injured, will be able to do so eventually.

I have always worried a bit about coming down the curved hill eastbound and then having that S-curve right before the bridge. I just have this hunch that someone's going to end up in the drink that way. This doesn't seem to be the same situation, though.

If you toggle west from that view that Roadmaster provided, you'll see the building, parking lot and the billboard. It's right there next to the river, next to the RR bridge. -- Gazette reporter Frank Schultz

That's center avenue and the Monterey bridge. It's probably by the old Cottonmill apartments across the river from Adams roofing

Must be here? Behind the old Panoramic building? It's the only brick building I see on the west and north of Centerway.
