Company making cancer-screening tool moves to Wis.
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A company developing new technology to screen for colorectal cancer is moving from Massachusetts to Madison.
The state Department of Commerce awarded the Exact Sciences Corp. a $1 million loan to help with the move.
The Marlboro, Mass.-based firm is developing molecular-screening technology to detect the disease, the second-leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S.
Company President Kevin Conroy says the state aid is a critical part of the decision to relocate. As the former president of Third Wave Technologies in Madison, he says he knows the area is "a great place to build a biotechnology company."
State officials say the company is expected to create up to 150 jobs over five years.
