Mich. gov.: GM 'poised' to make decision
WASHINGTON (AP) — Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm says General Motors is “poised” to make a decision on where it will build a new line of small cars.
Granholm and Michigan lawmakers want the automaker to choose its Orion Township plant near Pontiac.
Granholm says the state has put “everything we possibly can on the table. We’ve been very aggressive.”
GM has said it will announce by the end of June where it will make the car. Plants in Spring Hill, Tenn.; Janesville, Wis.; and Orion Township are in the running.
GM says building the subcompact at one of the plants will preserve about 1,200 jobs.
Granholm met with Michigan’s congressional delegation on Wednesday.

The decision has been made. GM has picked Orion for the new GM plant. Look for announcement later today. Remember, you heard it here first. Sad news for Janesville. But now maybe we can finally move on and look for new industry.

I know there are many non-believers, but GM has already picked Janesville. We won because of the labor contract, the improved work force and the history of being the oldest plant. Think what you will, but this decision has already been made.

I just hope they did not give more to GM than we can realalisticaly get back in return. If this small car fails in a year it could be a pretty bad thing too.

Lost city and Rooster are totally delusional. As if Michigan isn't in Obama's back yard? Not to mention that state has twice as many electoral votes as Wisconsin.......Regardless, it's nice to see the enthusiasm--you guys should get your lunch pails ready and go wait by the front gate:)
