The Milton owner of a small plane that crashed in Iowa on Tuesday said Milton businessman Malcolm McMillan is among the three killed.

Jerome Goodger, Milton, said he and McMillan, 65, owned the single-engine Piper together.

Goodger said federal investigators told him this morning that the man in the pilot seat at the time of the crash was 64-year-old Frank Allegretti, Cambridge. Allegretti and a passenger, 60-year-old Thomas Boos, of Fort Atkinson, were among those killed, Goodger said.

Federal investigators this morning were at the scene of the crash near Sheldon, Iowa, about 50 miles southeast of Sioux Falls, S.D. Goodger said the three men were on their way to South Dakota. The small plane has no flight data recorder.

"They're going to have to try and piece it together from evidence they find at the site," Goodger said. Goodger said he and McMillan owned the 1968 aircraft for about seven years. He said the plane had been completely refurbished.

if i knew the person and family, i would be sending a snail mail sympahy card to them. maybe it is me, but personal comments on a community forum seem insensitive and cheap and lame. but, i could be wrong. if i had lost a family member or friend like that i doubt i would be signing on to the internet to check out the blogs.

I just heard about this tragedy about an hour ago on Facebook. Mac's daughter Tracy is a friend of mine from high school. I was just shocked to hear the news. My heart goes out to the whole McMillan family. My prayers and support are with them.

My deepest sympathy to the McMillan family. May peace be with you at this difficult time.
