Cummins Filtration lays off 127 workers
BLOOMER, Wis. (AP) — A company that makes components for diesel engines is laying off dozens of employees in western Wisconsin.
Cummins Filtration says that because of a decrease in demand for its products, 127 workers will lose their jobs.
The layoffs include 44 people in Bloomer where 175 remain employed, 30 in Black River Falls where 163 are still employed and 53 in Viroqua where 265 workers remain.
Cummins spokesman Mark Land says the company asked for voluntary layoffs, but only a few employees nearing retirement took the offer.

Can you show me where this is substantiated? I have heard this said before but a quick look at Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Stat...) does not seem to bear this out.
I'm also tired of this "Bush started the war" rhetoric. Do some research or listen to the facts! It is just so convenient to use Bush as a scapegoat by those on the opposite side of the aisle, but many people including MANY democrats voted for measures to start the action in Iraq.

aj131... Why so mean in your comments? What's with you and Obama and the 'retarded' comments? And your comments about Palin are just childish. Do you kick puppies and kitties too? Grow up. I think we all expect that the guy who is our president is ready on day 1. He better be able to hit the ground running. We really can't afford to have a guy who needs 'training'. Mr Obama has surrounded himself with very poor advisors and it's showing. He better stay up nights studying 'Presidency for Dummies'.

this is off subject but would be a big help to the people. when a single mom on welfare gets married or remarried her husbands income needs to come into the equasion. stopping the x's support or lowering it and stopping the welfare if she's collecting it.

OK, look, the way a stimulus works is that it increases spending in the consumer economy as a whole. It does not prevent companies from closing, certainly not before the spending actually begins to hit the economy some weeks or months from now. The stimulus never had any way to make sure every company would halt layoffs, but it's hoped that the overall impact will be to prevent unemployment from exceeding 10% nationally.
.
Those of us who support Obama support him because it's pretty simple what to do when the car is driving toward a cliff. You TURN THE OTHER DIRECTION. Of course, when the car is already half off the cliff due to the previous driver, your options are relatively limited.

We were out of debt when Clinton was running the show (FY2000 surplus). Then Bush buried us in a no win war that distracted our country and helped facilitate a financial meltdown. And to localboy, why couldn't Bush get the same plan pushed through? At least Obama gets things done. Bush has the blood of thousands on his hands but what else did he ever accomplish? Oh yeah, he kept us safe right? 7 of 8 years aint bad! But it isn't 8 for 8 like Wild Bill. I'm also curious to know who you think will take over in 3 years 9 months…"bobby" the retarded kid who gave the response speech? Isn't he the republicans golden child? Or maybe Palin? The "family values" candidate? Right... I mean seriously, give Obama some time...it’s been 60 some days. I'm sure you had your job mastered in that amount of time, right??

Obama, Bush, Mccain, what ever the name should be...they are all politicians. If you think for one minute any of them care about the little people like us you are nuts. When have we ever been out of debt? So what difference is driving the debt deeper going to make...you're either in debt or you're not. I have to laugh when people complain about the government driving the deficit deeper when almost every American is carrying a min of $10,000 debt in their back pocket. You can sit and complain or you can learn how to protest or revolt like the people that came before us.
Better Education is must have in the states...then maybe we can move forward in this country instead of sitting around and crying through a local newspaper.
