Deer-killing suspect sentenced on separate charge
WAUPACA, Wis. (AP) — One of the men charged with using snowmobiles to kill deer in Waupaca County has been sentenced to prison on a probation violation.
Twenty-four-year-old Rory Kuenzi of Weyauwega was sentenced Friday to two years in prison on a 2005 conviction for beating his girlfriend.
He had been on probation for the conviction. But the probation was revoked when he was charged in January for his alleged role in killing deer in the Lind Township.
Public defender Troy Nielsen told the judge that in the year before the deer charges, Kuenzi had stayed out of trouble.
But prosecutor James Fassbender said the animal charges were consistent with a pattern of violence.
Kuenzi’s assault on his girlfriend left her with a broken tooth.

Big tough guy, figures, anyone tough enough to punch out his girlfreind would be capable of running deer down with a snowmobile. I have high hopes he will get his in the end. Literally.

Again and again, they have shown links between abuse of animals and abuse of humans. This is the reason, maybe even the primary reason, why we should take the former very seriously.

The important thing is that this creature is in a cage. Him and his cronies are a menace to living things and need to be locked up for as long as possible.

Seems fairly simple to me: IF this moron were IN JAIL the deer would not have died, this girlfriend would not have been abused...
You can't prove a negative.... Obviously, if someone is behind bars THEY are no longer committing the crime....
While I understand it may not be a deterrent for first time offenders, it definitely stops he who is incarcerated from inflicting more pain on innocent people/animals.

ladulce, perhaps because three strikes laws (usually enacted by referendum, not legislatures) a) cost enormous amounts of money, and b) don't do anything to reduce crime.

They may even make criminals more violent.

Certainly, locking someone away and throwing away the key is one of the least productive ways of addressing crime.

The 3 stike law is not what is needed. Obviously this man has MAJOR problems with violence. This is the type of behavior, that continues to be repeated, that should put someone away for a long time. The 3 strike law is too general-give judges some room to move, especially in non-violent situations. Violence towards someone or something should not be tolerated-Period

THE STATE SEEMS TO HAVE IT ON THE BACK BURNER AND I AM TRULY HOPING THAT IN LIEU OF HIS CRIME WITH AGAINST HIS GIRLFRIEND AS WELL AS THE DEER WILL MAKE THIS STATE MOVE FASTER AND GET THIS SCUMBAG THE SENTENCEHE TRULY DESERVES.....IN MEMORY OF KEVIN

25 police contacts since he bacame of age in 2003- ranging from obstructing an officer, intent to do great bodily harm in a domestic matter, driving while intoxicated, and THIS is the guy that is named in a civil suit for wrongful death... WHY can't we just be done with him already?

WHY don't we have a three strikes law again? This guy isn't going to be anything productive or positive to society. Can't we just lock him away and be done with it already - before more people are harmed or killed by this idiot?
