JANESVILLE -- A Madison man accused of trying to meet to have sex with what he thought was a 15-year-old Milton girl was charged Monday with use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.

Florencio Briseno Resendiz, 36, Madison, appeared in Rock County Court and was released on a signature bond.

Resendiz was arrested Saturday in a parking lot in the 700 block of South Janesville Street, Milton, according to Milton police.

If convicted, he faces a maximum 40 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.

I agree this is a really bad thing for anyone to do. But i but someone driving drunk and killing somebody, that the punishment and fines are not even close to what this guy faces. That's messed up.

SuperDave: How sensible your comments are! Yes, the police seem to be engaging in a lot of entrapment lately, but we, because we respond in such a moralized fashion, don't recognize it.

If he did it, this guy is wrong, wrong, WRONG! "If convicted, he faces a maximum 40 years in prison and a $100,000 fine". That being said, the punishment seems way excessive. (Consider what our elected and appointed officials in DC are getting away with! I know, apples and oranges). How about this - if he had beat the tar out of someone (e.g. for punishment or revenge, no sexual intent or connotation), what kind of punishment would he be facing? I realize that they got this guy before any real crime was committed against a real victim, but the fact is that there was no victim here. Just some food for thought.

I can guarantee that this isn't over. In a round-about way I know someone that was stupid enough to do this exact thing and got caught. Now he is a registered sex offender, on probation, and can't see his kids without supervision (Thank Goodness). That's all he got out of it besides the public humiliation he caused his (now ex)wife and friends, not to mention employees at his business (or should I say UN-employees). Doesn't seem worth it to me. These people are the worst kind of LOSERs.

Show a darn picture. If I get arrested for jaywalking, I'm sure my photo would be plastered in the media.

I doubt they have done investigating at all gmaof3. They probably just picked him out of the crowd in Milton on that particular day.

Released on a signature bond. I wonder if they confiscated his computer?
