Storm knocks down tree and electrical wires
JANESVILLE—Wednesday night’s thunderstorm knocked down a large tree and electrical wires in rural Janesville.
Rock County Sheriff’s Office deputies were the first on scene at 9 p.m. Wednesday at 3916 E. Avalon Road, where they found a large tree across the road and electrical wires down in the ditch, according to a Janesville Fire Department shift commander.
Rural Electric crews came and repaired the downed power line while county public works employees brought a vehicle to clear the road of the tree, the shift commander said.
Janesville firefighters from Station 4 assisted at the scene with blocking traffic, cleanup and safety, the shift commander said.
All officials were on scene for about one hour.
In the city of Janesville, and due to last night’s storm, an electrical wire was reported to be hanging low at 6 a.m. today at the intersection of Holmes Street and Randall Avenue, according to a Janesville Police Department patrol supervisor. Alliant Energy was enroute to the scene, he said.

I commend the County worker who was sound asleep when he got the call to come out in the middle of the night to remove a tree. Of Corse all we do is lean on shovels all day and drink coffee. Municipal employees are always expected to do the unglorified work and never get any credit.
