Owner plans to raze Case Feed building
Janesville -- The owner of the Case Feed building, 922 Rockport Road, plans to tear it down in response to a raze-or-repair order from the city of Janesville.
Nadeem Syed said it would cost more to fix the building than tear it down.
The city issued the order Oct. 30 after city council President Bill Truman alerted authorities to bricks coming off of the exterior.
Syed doesn't believe the building is in danger of collapse but doesn't have the money or energy to fix it up, he said.

spikesmom"That's too bad. There were so many possibilities for that building. It would be nice if the people that buy these old buildings care about the history and work to restore them. Don't buy them if you can't do that.
"
i agree I wish somebody would have bought it and fixed it. But NOBODY is going to with that stupid price of $250 on it plus back taxes owed plus fees. If somebody put a decent price on it something could have happened. Sorry the "gem" is in huge disrepair and you cannot list it for a gem.

I'm surprised the old Michaels Cycle building didnt get the raze order first. Pretty sure it still has a tarp on the roof.

The owner is smart to realize that once a council member is pushing to have it demolished, there is little point in applying for grants, donations or whatever to try to rescue it.

The city can't afford the Tallman House, or the ice arena, musch less Case Feesd. I used to go there alot as a kid. Good memories. Now it will be a what? Not sure what will go on that lot. There is a few other buildings in that area that neet to be brought down and replaced with a mini Walmart. Or a skate park.

I agree with ceebear. While I think that it would have been great to restore the building to its former self, the buyer should have known that you can't just let a building sit there and deteriorate and not have the public comment on it. Also there are a few more buildings around that intersection that need to be addressed as well. I get that people may not have the money to paint, or side or remodel their properties but, there is no cost to putting trash and such to the curb.

What in the world did he buy it for in the first place!!?? Glad it is finally going to be gone!! Lets work on getting rid of a few more buildings around that intersection too!
