Stimulus job report filled with errors
MILWAUKEE (AP) — A report that says federal stimulus funding saved or created more than 10,000 jobs in Wisconsin is filled with errors and inflated numbers.
A review by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel finds that some jobs were mistakenly counted twice and other jobs were listed as saved, even though no funding had been received and no work had started.
In one example, the Parkland Sanitary District in Douglas County listed 100 jobs as created or save, mistakenly inflated by 95 positions. District treasurer Eric Shaffer says he tried to correct the mistake, but was told that it was too late for the federal reporting deadline.
The Journal Sentinel's review found errors with information submitted by local governments and contractors reported directly to the federal government. No problems were found with state-submitted data.

I'm sure it's all his fault....That's so easy to say, isn't it? Hope there was at least a hint of sarcasm there. Why don't the advisors ever get caught up in this? There are so many people saying"here, you should sign this, you trust me, and it says this, and it'll do this, and solve that"
I wonder how much slips through the cracks. The president should be regarded more as a mascot for the team, as opposed to the quarterback.

Not to worry, this is just the prelude to President Obama winning the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2010.
Over-inflating a figure by 1900% is more than a mistake. That this is not an isolated incident demonstrates the scandal and corruption that lies beneath the skin.

Tagatay, how about if the government had given $700 billion in tax cuts to businesses (money given away versus money not collected still results in the same negative number in the government coffers) so that they could keep their businesses and employees, who in turn go out and spend the money on consumer goods, therefor fueling stimulus THAT way?

I'm sure people who don't have a job would agree that jobs are not the issue here.

Why don't you Einsteins who criticize the stimulus package come up with a better solution? Most likely because you don't have the collective brainpower to open an Excel spreadsheet.

There are plenty of examples of flawed math being peddled all over the country, here is another one from Chicago.

Once or twice is a mistake, a county or state is a bigger mistake, multiple false numbers from numerous companies, counties, and states is a pattern.
But don't worry, you can trust them with your healthcare.

"The important thing is not the numbers of jobs, but the money injected into the economy."

Not important? Tell that to an unemployed worker...your job is not as important as the borrowed future tax dollars the government spent.

I think that the jobs are important. Is this truly adding to the economy if nothing new is created? Diluting the value of the money supply is not going to help anyone except the ones that pocket the stimulus money. I beg to differ, but this is not new math, it's the oldest trick in the book. (Not to be confused with the oldest profession, although I would not be surprised to find some of the funds channeled into that sector of the economy.)

The important thing is not the numbers of jobs, but the money injected into the economy. That's still true even if the reporting system has bureaucratic issues.

Obama math, the new math. like the new wave of propaganda being seen in schools throughout America. reminds me of what the janesville school board did when it recruited students to stump for all the new building a few years ago just before the referendum. outrageous.
