Housing market may be primed
Realtor Carole Cullen sat in the sunny dining room of a charming two-story on Atwood Avenue in Janesville on Sunday.
She was waiting to show the well-kept house, offered for $169,900.
That price might put it out of the grasp of many first-time buyers, even with government tax rebates of up to $8,000 that Congress recently extended, Cullen said.
However, it’s a great second home, Cullen noted, and with a new tax rebate of $6,500 just enacted for people who already own homes, Cullen is hoping for a sale.
Realtors contacted over the weekend said they were hopeful the government stimuli, combined with interest rates hovering around 5 percent, could be a boon.
Not to mention that prices are low.

Another example of the Gazette trying to "pump" the local housing economy. Much like they were "pumping" the product line for the plant. Wishing don't make it so.....

hannah - Calling hannah....Is anyone home???.....I purchased my first home and am now looking for a "second home" a different home, a newer home, a bigger home, a smaller home. That means I only own 1 home at a time but may have owned many homes at different periods of time.

Correct, this is a "move-up" credit for people changing homes.

when realtors use the term 2nd home, they don't mean a spare house. they are meaning someone who is moving out of their first home (starter) into a larger/pricier home

Napalm just likes to criticize (castigate, censure, chastise, chide, clobber, denounce, denunciate, disparage, dress down, excoriate, fulminate against, fustigate, lambaste, nag at, nit-pick, pan, pick at, rap, reprehend, reprimand, reprobate, reprove, rip, roast, scathe, scorch, slam, slog, slug, take down, and or trash) the Gazette whenever he sees fit.
