A heroin overdose last summer and several months of investigation has led to the arrest of two suspected drug dealers.

At 7:55 p.m. Monday, officers from the Janesville Police Department Street Crimes Unit, along with patrol officers, executed a search warrant at 1407 Canyon Drive, No. 10, Janesville.

The residents of the home, Clarence L. Moore, 32 and Murasha Henry, 21, were both arrested, and police siezed 1.4 grams of herion, 1.4 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, $842 and a .357 caliber pistol.

Moore was arrested on charges of two counts of delivery of heroin near certain places, three counts of delivery of heroin, possession with intent to deliver heroin, three counts of maintaining a drug house, delivery of cocaine near certain places, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, identity theft and second-degree reckless injury.

“Near certain places” refers to areas such as parks or schools.

The second degree reckless injury charge is related last summer’s overdose. Moore is suspected of being linked to the drugs the individual overdosed on.

Henry was arrested on charges of maintaining a drug house, party to the crime of delivery cocaine and party to the crime of delivery of heroin.

Moore was found guilty on a charge of possession with intent to deliver cocaine in 1999, according on on-line court records.

Kid I was not saying that there aren't problems in other areas but as citizens of rock county we should all be concerned! And to answer your question, no I have never been an addict but my brother is a recovering addict and will be for the rest of his life! I also have have seen the effects of heroin use on childrens parents who use it! I know 2 babies who were taken from their mother because she was a terrible junkie who left needles on the floor while they walked around, who would leave them home alone for hours to fend for themselves so she could get a fix!! So yes my friend it is a choice! When u first put that needle in your arm you are making a choice at that very moment!! After thart then its an addiction!! So yes I understand an addiction and no don't have any sympathy for people who CHOOSE to try heroin and know how addicting its is because we all learn in elementary school about drugs!! My 4th grade daughter knows what heroin is!! When you try a highly addictive drug such as heroin that is a choice, when you steal from people to get a fix and leave your babies home alone both under the age of 8 then yep no sympathy from me!!! Not when I have to see these babies be afraid at night because they used to have to hide from drug dealers, and to be taught not to talk to police!! That's not my opinion those are the facts!! Sorry if that offends anybody:)

beautifulbabies....im assuming youve never dealt with an addiction?? i assume that cuz it seems the people who think addiction is a choice, are the ones who've never dealt with addiction. if it were that simple we wouldnt have the addiction problems we do. and as for the drug problems in 'especially our area'...please...the drug problems are the same everywhere. the same kids are dieing from heroin USE in rock county that are dieing from it in Oregon. the same kids are dieing from alcohol USE in rock county that are dieing in arkansas. the same kids are getting kicked out of school for POSSESSING pot in rock county as they are in arizona. im not trying to belittle the drug problems we have in our county, but they are no worse or better than any other county anywhere...

"Smart girl" I am not here to JUDGE anyone! The matter at hand is that we have a HUGE drug problem in this country and especially our area, which we should ALL be concerned with including you! Addiction is a terrible thing to go through but it is also a CHOICE plain and simple! If you choose to do heroin then you are choosing to be an addict! And further more the JUDGES we pay tax dollars for are giving these people little more than a slap on the wrist, me as citizen of this country has a right to state my opinions! And as far as not knowing what people are going through, your right I can honestly say I am not a heroin addict! However, as a mother, I would never want to do anything to harm my babies lives or anyone in my family by CHOOSING to use such a drug that is EXTREMELY addictive and even less educated people would KNOW how terribly life changing Heroin is!!! So call us what you want but I know whatever I "go through" in my life would never cause me to become a junkie!!! Its called inability to cope!! Everybody has tough and tragic things they "go through" but its called LIFE!!!

Some doctors can now treat painkiller and heroin addiction in the privacy of their office with a monthly prescription of buprenorphine (Suboxone/Subutex). This suppresses the cravings and withdrawal so patients can do the other important things needed to recover.

TreatmentMatch.org is a free service from the non-profit organization - National Alliance of Advocates for Buprenorphine Treatment (NAABT.org) it is a confidential way to find doctors certified to treat opioid addiction in their office.

Bupe is abuse resistant and has a ceiling to its effects making accidental fatal overdoses unlikely. It also blocks other opioids for days, and is not euphoric to people tolerant to opioids. It has enough opioid effect to stop cravings and withdrawal allowing the patient and their family to make the necessary changes that will translate to sustained addiction remission.

Learn more about buprenorphine at www.naabt.org or talk with patients who have used it at www.AddictionSurvivors.org

Great job to the jpd:) however with these 2 off the streets there are 10 more picking up the slack! The courts are giving these people very light sentances, and we as people should be up in arms and demand harsher sentences. I personally know 2 scumbag women from the city of milton who were arrested and only given drug court! Then while in drug court they still use heroin and only get 1 year in rock county jail?!?!?! I think that is the real injustice because what are we teaching the dirtbags? Its okay to have 3 counts of manufacturing and delivery of heroin and only get drug court? Then when your in drug court for only 1 month test positive for opiates 4x and only get 1 year in rock county jail with huber? Wow!! Aren't we happy our tax dollars go the saving a drug dealers rear end?

wtp - I am always here to entertain. I am glad it is working.

FREERADICAL - how do you put a price on a young person's life who O.D.'s on heroin? What we spend is indifferent to the lives me might save, even if it is only one...

Was the gun registered? Since he was popped for cocaine before, I'm guessing he was a felon. Where's the "possession of a firearm by a felon" charge?

Thekid...pot is not legal. Get over it. Your constant defending it vs alcohol has grown tiring!

Besides them having enough marijuana found between two people to roll one, maybe two joints, why are you even bringing up marijuana? The heroin the found could kill 4, or even 5 people. Marijuana is a non-issue in this story right now, I'd say. All I would ask is that if marijuana were legal, and you didn't have to go to drug dealers to get it,do you really think there would be equally as great a chance you'd encounter heroin? By both being illegal, and both being sold on the same black market-then yes, you make a good point. It is easier to find heroin when you treat marijuana as an equal evil, and when you have to go to a drug dealer to get either.
In regards to the story, It's unfortunate that months of investigation of a near death, merely resulted in a small bust. Under 2000$ combined total of confiscated items. How much did we spend on it? Why didn't we follow them, and bust THEIR dealer? We expect them to spill the beans on something-after the Chicago shooting that displayed the strength of the street"silence" code?(you don't tell the cops anything, ever). I don't get it.

Where is the kid? We need somebody to defend "marijuana is not a gateway drug"....I am sure these 2 were engaged in this type of activity to support their families due to the down economy.

I concur. Make an example of them. We need to show the scum that we will not take this lightly and that those involved will be punished! I realize we can never eradicate this problem but by taking dealers and users off the street the less likely it is my house get broken into.

Good! Get this crap and the crap that sells this off the streets. People don't realize how easy this is to get and how dangerous this drug is. I hope they get a long prison sentence.
