JANESVILLE—A Rockford man remains in custody this morning at the Rock County Jail after assaulting his girlfriend and a Janesville police officer Sunday night.

Alvin C. Jones, 36, was arrested on charges of substantial battery, false imprisonment, resisting an officer and battery to a law enforcement officer, said Sgt. Dean Sukus, patrol supervisor.

The female roommate, of the 21-year-old woman who was assaulted, reported the incident around 10 p.m., he said.

When officer Amber Spade arrived at the apartment, in the 2600 block of N. Lexington Drive, Jones was in the bathroom with the female. When he came out, he pushed his way past her and took off on foot. Jones was taken into custody a short time later in the 2600 block of Sumac Court. When he was handcuffed and led to the squad car, he elbowed Spade in the eye, Sukus said.

“She didn’t seek medical treatment but sustained a visible bruise to her left eye,” he said.

The couple had been drinking when a minor argument escalated and became physical, Sukus said.

“He was physically punching her,” he said, “and hitting her face on the kitchen countertop.’’

Kid - I have not made fun of any posters. I have not accused you of anything you haven't already printed right here in black and white for the whole world to see. You have twisted a simple question that I presented to you into something mean and hateful and that was not the intent.

you crack me up. you engage me in a convo and accuse me of almost all my posts being posted to blame someone for my pot woes and make fun of posters...which is simply not true. i explained my position and belief on things again and you tell me to go smoke a doob and chill?? ughhh...one of the better ideas today and i think i will...lmao....

The word WHY doesn't mean I don't comprehend what you are saying. Seriously, you're reading WAY too much into this, so go smoke a doobie and chill. .

what?? how did you not comprehend what i wrote?? you asked 'why, why, why, must "ALMOST ALL" comments you ever make on here have to end up with you blaming the lawmakers, the president, the state, (or whom ever else)...'

i was merely stating whom i DO blame for marijuana being illegal. i was pointing out that i RARELY lay blame on this blog, i just point out the hypocrisy. maybe next time before you come at me saying all i do is lay blame and call people names you should read ALMOST ALL of my posts. i was defended for not making fun of people by someone who DOESNT AGREE with me before i could even respond. if you think that what i do on here isnt opening eyes you are sorely mistaken. ive had numerous emails of support to keep doing what i do. i have had several emails of people telling me of their ailments and asking me if i thought marijuana could help, or where i could direct them to find more answers. ive SEEN people post on here after attacking me for my beliefs that after a discussion they understand why medical marijuana should be available.

i mean no disrespect by this krsmith, but you are no better than the anti-potters who judge me simply because i believe marijuana should be legal. you take what you see/read from me on here, not even ALMOST ALL of it, and even tho you seem to agree with what i do, you try to act holier than thou. try tellin me how i can get my message out better. i need to do more than research/blog. i need to be proactive. you put those in question form but they were most def insinuating that i dont ALREADY do more than just blog. thekid3477 does not define who i am. i define who thekid3477 is. if you had educated yourself by reading ALMOST ALL my posts you would have read my posts about my visit to the capitol to meet my reps and lobbby for medical marijuana and not had to ask/insuniate that i do nothing but preach...

In regards to an earlier post about the article, the point was raised that the PD should send more than one officer to the scene of a domestic.
This is true, and is always practiced. Spade was not the only officer on scene. At least one other officer was on scene, and possibly more given the nature of the call.
This is the most dangerous type of call for any officer and shows how quickly things go from routine to life threatening out there. I'm happy to hear she's recovering and the aggressor is in custody.

Kid - you say you don't blame people but in the very same post, these are your words: "the only people i REALLY blame for marijuana being illegal is henry anslinger, william randolph hearst, and the house that didnt even know what 'marihuana' was." Oh wait a second there was another one. . ., these are your words: "ok maybe we could add pres nixon to that list of blame." Again, I'm all about defending something I believe in, especially if what you are trying to do is expose hypocrisy. But if you want to get people on board with your way of thinking, blaming (even on a minimal level) and name calling (all I read was that you called a blogger a "fool") is not the way to help people understand your perspective. Tell me what you are PROACTIVELY doing to make "change" besides just research and blogging. Anyone can research and anyone can blog, however not just ANYONE is willing to proactively do whatever is necessary to fullfill a "special interest." So what are you actually DOING to further your quest for legalization? Complaining and just stating facts just gets boring and turns people off after awhile. While I can totally appreciate your passion for this subject. . . . . .

just a couple of nixons quotes regarding marijuana

"I see another thing in the news summary this morning about it. That's a funny thing, every one of the bastards that are out for legalizing marijuana is Jewish. What the Christ is the matter with the Jews, Bob, what is the matter with them? I suppose it's because most of them are psychiatrists . . ."

"You see, homosexuality, dope, immorality in general. These are the enemies of strong societies. That's why the Communists and the left-wingers are pushing the stuff, they're trying to destroy us."

marijuana consumers smoke "to get high" while "a person drinks to have fun." Nixon also saw marijuana leading to loss of motivation and discipline but claimed: "At least with liquor I don't lose motivation."

hmmmm. i guess its about perspective. i dont see it as 'blaming'. the only people i REALLY blame for marijuana being illegal is henry anslinger, william randolph hearst, and the house that didnt even know what 'marihuana' was when they discussed it for 90 seconds and then voted and passed the marijuana tax stamp act.(google those names to save me some time:) no one person, or president, is going to change the law so i dont really 'blame' them. ok maybe we could add pres nixon to that list of blame cuz he commissioned the shafer report and then ignored it when they said that marijuana possession should not be a 'criminal offense'. he instead started the 'war on drugs'. i dont even blame nancy reagon who started the whole 'just say no' campaign. that was a good campaign to keep kids off drugs, unfortunately i think they forgot to include legal drugs, and they also used scare tactics instead of reason and logic to try and educate the youth. but i can comprehend where she was coming from. nixon ignored HIS OWN COMMISSIONED report...for political reasons only. actually krsmith...i think i do very little 'blaming' for why i cant smoke pot legally. i dont blame any current law maker, or recent administration and to the best of my stoner memory i have RARELY mentioned those people that i just did. i certainly dont blame any 'blogger'. again, this is about perspective, but what i do is just highlight the hypocrisy of the TWO MOST DEADLY DRUGS BEING LEGAL AND THE ONE THAT HAS NEVER KILLED BEING ILLEGAL. maybe annoyingly and maybe not always in the best or most p.c. way, but ive spent the time researching and learning about why marijuana is illegal, and more importantly ive LIVED my life PROVING that marijuana is NOT the demon drug we were led to believe it is. as for the name calling...read some of ljs' posts and youll see in this case its justified;). ive taken my share of insults simply for posting my thoughts on a particular subject and my insults rarely venture any further than calling someone a fool, or insulting their intelligence, and those are only meant to insult on this particular subject. finally...it is true that 'almost all' of my posts are about the hypocrisy. i hate to venture off and wish i could relate EVERY story to the hypocrisy, but even with my creative/juvenile imagination that would be a difficult task...:)

for real peoples, hang on cuz i REALLY beleive that the federal govt will be done regulating marijuana by the end of O's second term. once the feds take their ignorant unjustified claws off and leave it to the states, as that little thing called the constitution says it should be, the states will trip over themselves trying to regulate and tax...and i will take my legal pot(and new job:) and bid you all a fond farewell...:)

It doesnt matter if someone is drinking or not! No one has the right to hurt another person. If you are having an argument then walk away and let it go. Thats the problem, not the drinking. Its people who think they can solve issues by hitting, or shooting someone etc. just because they feel their points are right or they are mad. They need to find other ways of dealing with their anger issues. Domestic Abuse is a problem all over this world and people need to stand up and find ways to change the laws to help the victims. Stop blaming everyone and do something about it! We control ourselves and our actions. NO one forces us to behave this way.

Kid - I got nothing against people who smoke pot but why, why, why, must "ALMOST ALL" comments you ever make on here have to end up with you blaming the lawmakers, the president, the state, (or whom ever else) for the fact that you can't indulge in an illegal activity which is smoking pot?? And worse yet you have the gaul to call other people "fools?" I've got nothing against making your point, but when your point ALMOST NEVER goes beyond the subject of "pot" and you end up resorting to name calling just because people don't agree with you?. . . . .Sheesh.

What makes you think Mr. Jones wouldn't have shoved his way past a male officer, cardtrader? Did you witness what transpired? My guess is, if YOU went up against Office Spade she would have you eating dirt and begging for mercy in less than 10 seconds.

Again, my heart goes out to the women in our community that are suffering the results of domestic abuse and violence. There are at least 2-3 domestic abuse incidences in Janesville EVERY DAY ! (scanner)
The YWCA is here to help women that are hurt. There are meetings women can attend, there is shelter from the abuse and there is the hotline to call for advice. NO WOMEN NEEDS TO GO THRU THIS. If you know someone who is in this situation please urge them to call the hotline for resources,
You CAN make a DIFFERENCE. You May save someone's LIFE.

you crack me up ljs. what do you think 'almost all' is?? 5% or 95%?? this drug is legal?? thanx for clearing that up. fool.

my point is the same as it ever was, but since you asked ill clarify...ONE FIFTH of our courts are filled by people hitting each other after consuming this LEGAL drug. thats not even counting the owi's, disorderly conducts, or whatever other crimes are a result of consuming this LEGAL drug. im ok with all these numbers. well im not 'ok' with them, but i understand those are some of the negatives we deal with by living in a society that allows people the freedom to do with their bodies as they choose as long as it doesnt infringe on someone elses rights or safety. this LEGAL drug is in the news constantly for negative stuff yet i have to defend my pot smoking...
