first off I really don't know where you dumb people get your information. Sadly I know a bit about this the victim was NOT I repeat this NOT 17!!!! She was 14 when it started! He was ALSO charged with 1st degree sexual assault with a dangerous weapon. I have never doubted his guilt in that but the evidence wasn't there and it was dropped. Charged were modified. While he was on the RUN he also rapped a girl in Florida. From what I understand the girl who finally came forward was NOT THE FIRST GIRL HE RAPED, MOLESTED, ABUSED, HURT... This jerk messed up a lot of peoples lives. Gosh I just wish I knew where you got your info nikkiz.

If he had put a canary in a microwave there would be a large crowd in front of the court house protesting, and wanting his head, at his sentencing.
When it's humans we sit back and let the courts rule. I say we begin protesting, and requiring the courts to spay, nueter, take a hand or what ever (bop him on the head with a hammer)to keep these creeps from taking anothers soul. When the people lead the leaders will follow.

I've lived in the 4th ward for going on 9 years now and have never had an officer come to my house to tell me or show me pictures. And there was one right across the street from me...

So the guy can't vote, or get a job. His neighbors will shun him. Everyone will shun him. He has absolutely no future anywhere. He's a ticking time bomb because he has nothing to lose. Maybe he'll commit a crime just to get away from society. What crime will he commit? Something that he's familiar with? Is the value of one life diminished in the face of six billion, or is each life precious?
If his life isn't precious, who decides? If his life is precious, what are you going to do if you meet him?

The spooky thing is, these people have nothing to loose really, and what motivation keeps them from reoffending? I agree these cons are indeed ticking time bombs. They are already labled (deservingly), and will never have more than basic lifestyle arrangements. Many of these more serious types will think, 'I may get away with it also, and if I don't, oh-well'.

moethebartender: perhaps you missed the news that assistant DA Kate Bucker now says a pedaphile is no longer a danger after a head injury. There is a cure, we just didn't know it. Again, I have a hammer.

I hate to beat a dead horse but if they are that much of a danger to society, and are basically time bombs waiting to explode and destroy another child's innocence, WHY ARE THEY LET OUT OF JAIL AT ALL? Why do people spend more time in jail for selling weed, then raping children? If you have to constantly monitor the guy, then he shouldn't be free. Is it really going to be worth it when one of them kidnaps a child and kills them? I'm not saying they should be tortured (well yes I am) but it's clinically proven that they cannot heal from this, they will always be sexually attracted to children. So it is literally a toss up weather they will be able to control themselves or not. It's like putting a vicious dog in a neighborhood and crossing your fingers that he doesn't bite anyone.

"The school board has no jurisdiction over sex offenders."
***
I understand that - but really who cares who has juristiction! Its a system WE paid for as tax payers & should be able to be utilized to secure the kids (and women) in the area. We have school officers dont we? They are briefed on this release & could pass along to the principals at the schools - kind of like when an "incident" happens near a school ground & a note goes home AFTER it happens. Try to be proactive rather than reactive is all I'm suggesting.

I have to disagree about the police notifying the people in the neighborhood. I use to live right across from that half way house and didn't even know the kind of sick people who lived there until one of them would just sit on the porch and watch my kids everyday. Wasn't right, so we started asking questions and found out he was a sex offender. The police didn't tell us, one of the other people in that house told us!

A terrible disappointment to know the person who took advantage of children & women who're scarred for a lifetime isn't being imprisoned as long. Are they now scarred AND scared? Are we going to have an x-ward neigborhood or just spread'em out over the entire community?

The police department typically notifies neighbors before releasing the info to the public. That way, the neighbors know before seeing it elsewhere.

Way to give family's a little time to plan for this ? Why wasn't this announced Monday or even Tuesday ? Why is the public learning of this last minute with little time remind their children what to do just incase . Seems as if it is poorly planned out .

Isn't it ironic that Habitat for Humanity built a nice house for a young women and her two kids, and a sex offender being released almost next door to them.
