DA says officer's fatal shooting justified
MADISON, Wis. — The Dane County district attorney says the fatal shooting of a robbery suspect by a Madison police officer this week was "a justifiable use of force."
DA Brian Blanchard said Friday "it's hard to imagine a more dangerous situation for a human being."
Twenty-six-year-old Gregory Bickford died from multiple gunshot wounds Wednesday after he was shot by Officer David Retlick. The officer stopped Bickford as a suspect in the armed robbery of a Cousins Subs shop.
Police Chief Noble Wray says the two struggled, Bickford produced a handgun and held it inches from the officer's face. He says Retlick deflected the gun and fired five shots, four of which hit Bickford.

This headline can be read to suggest events taht are at odds with what really happened. It certainly would be news if the DA were saying that an officer's shooting was justified.

Based on the evidence it does look like it was the right guy to stop, and two witnesses supported the cop's statement. Glad he's able to be home with his family tonight; this guy was some kind of dangerous.
