MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin lawmaker is expected to make a court appearance Thursday after he was arrested the day before for operating while intoxicated and bail jumping.

Rep. Jeffrey Wood is expected to appear at a bond hearing where a judge could set the conditions for his release from jail.

Monroe County District Attorney Dan Cary said he typically asks for a cash bond in bail jumping cases, but he was still reviewing Wood's arrest.

The independent from Chippewa Falls was jailed in Monroe County after his arrest Wednesday afternoon. Police officers say they observed his vehicle swerving and drive over a curb.

Wood did not have alcohol in his system but police found prescription drugs that were believed to be the source of his intoxication.

This is now the 5th time this dope has been arrested for this. Yet he, and other liberal jerks like him, continue to vote for new taxes, such as the new beer tax, so that I can "pay my fair share" toward OWI enforcement when I just want to buy beer and go home. Yet this moron continues to wreak havoc on the roadways, but he shouldn't be held accountable? Mr. Wood, how about you pay your "fair share" since you are the one out there endangering safety on the roadway.

nurse4u: What's really interesting is that, according to Channel 27 out of Madison, the lawmaker was stopped after just leaving his doctor's office.

He has not been found guilty of this latest charge. All you ASSumers think making the laws TOUGHER is the answer are kidding yourselves. Let's lower the BAC to .04 and then complain that more people are getting arrested for OWI. No kidding.

I posted before in his defense that maybe he had not realized how the medication would make him react..but if he's jumping curbs..he is obviously taking way more than he was prescribed.

Put in jail and throw the keys away. He does not deserve another chance.

This shouldn't surprise anyone. On any given day in the public records of the Gazette you see people listed for 4th, 5th, 6th, + OWI's. Laws certainly aren't strict enough. Very sad.

OkieFed - How do people like that get elected? Maybe people are so fed up with the way things are that they'll vote for anybody out of pure desperation.

This is his 5th OWI. Lock him up before he hurts himself or someone else. When are the laws going to get tougher...oh yeah, this guy is a lawmaker!
