The Democrats and Republicans serve, first and foremost, their respective parties. It's not supposed to be that way. Maybe if we all vote for Independents we can have politicians that serve their constituents.

If not, then we are doomed.

Let's put a giant Jiffy-Pop in the White House then over-ride the guidance on the laser we designed so it aims right at the oval office and fills it with popcorn!
er, is that to on topic because I mentioned the White House?

I have said this many times in my life and more than several times in the GazetteExtra.com blogs, I HATE POLITICS. (Please pardon the yell) With that said, it seems silly to me that we chastise and bash each other regarding who is the President, Governor, Chief of Police, City Council Administrator, noisy neighbor or whatever. I am guilty of this too. Sometimes it’s fun and maybe a stress reliever but we all have the power of the vote. That is how our great country changes things. I am a registered voter and I exercise my power. I wonder how many of the chronic complainers are not registered voters. I’m sure they won’t admit it or will make some sort of excuse why they don’t vote but my point is if you don’t vote, you are just a …… (Fill in the blank). I didn’t like W but I supported The President of the United States of America. Maybe that’s just me.
Has anyone said the Pledge of Allegiance lately, or do we just not care? JMO

booch11, you've said some stupid things before but "The attack was supposed to take place in April but the terrorists changed their minds to plan some more" takes the cake. The attack happened in SEPTEMBER, not APRIL! If I really wanted to blame Bush for 9/11, an additional five months of planning by the terrorists would simply support my point.
I don't blame Bush for 9/11, but Republicants want to keep score on national defense by using 9/11 as their scorecard, saying Bush kept us safe AFTER 9/11. They are creating fear in the wingnuts by saying that Obama is weak, therefore implying another terrorist attack will likely happen. It's disgusting.

Zoom,
you've said some stupid things before, but the "If Bush was strong, why did we get attacked on 9/11" might possibly take the cake.
Did you read the 9/11 report by any chance?
The attack was supposed to take place in April but the terrorists changed their minds to plan some more.
April was a mere 2 and a half months after Bush took office. Obama is nine months into his term and yet he BLAMES EVERYTHING on Bush.
And, at the time, Bush took ownership for the attack -- and your side has demonized him for his actions ever since. Has Obama taken ownership of anything yet? (No is the answer btw.)
*********
The wall between the CIA and the FBI that disallowed them to share data on suspected terrorist activities, coupled with our officials basically granting the rights of US citizens to Islamic terror suspects allowed the terrorists to plan and pull off the attack.
I realize you see everything through Obama colored glasses, but you're way off on this one.

"1. All of the problems that we have with the economy go back to the late '70s and early '80's when credit cards and in-store credit became popular."
Wow. How utterly, completely wrong. Consumers didn't cause the recession. Overly greedy investment banks did, by creating hugely leveraged investment products that went unregulated. The recession simply illuminated the risk of having high consumer debt.
"2. If some of you haven't realized yet, but the less taxes that big business has to pay, means that they will be more likely to stay in the United States."
Then how come the greatest rate of manufacturing exodus from the U.S. was during the Clinton and Bush years, when tax rates were reduced? Ross Perot didn't just make up the "giant sucking sound". Low taxes aren't a fix for everything.
"3. The world is seeing America at each others throats with this health care junk and they are seeing that we are weak in moral. We need to be the America we were the months after 9/11."
No, the world is seeing democracy in action, but laughing at our irrational fear of socialized medicine. If Bush was strong, why did we get attacked on 9/11? Don't try to criticize the current administration about foreign policy by using 9/11 as the scorecard.

yes, he took his finger off the nuclear button. Now its on the "spend money like a wild man" button. Much better choice. Now our country is weak, vulnerable, and in debt so far well never get out of it. Bush being a screw up doesnt excuse Obama for screwing it up more. Two wrongs dont make a right.

1. All of the problems that we have with the economy go back to the late '70s and early '80's when credit cards and in-store credit became popular. If you look back to when appliances were more popular (fridge/freezers, TV’s toasters, washer and dryers) and easier to get because of the credit, that is when the credit problem started. The middle aged adults saw their parents buying things with that plastic money and were taught that it is ok. Now, that’s what they do. Buy stuff with that plastic money. I refuse to have a credit card because they were created to make us think that we HAVE the money to buy an item. If you’re smart enough to use it correctly, then do it. I would suggest having at least the first six payments saved up just in case you lose your job or something comes up in the first few months were you have that money set aside. (Same with any loan or credit)
2. who ever was put into office would have kept us out of another depression. If some of you haven't realized yet, but the less taxes that big business has to pay, means that they will be more likely to stay in the United States. They will have money to pay their employees a decent amount, and pay of the millions of dollars they have for loans to start the business. Take an economics coarse
3. Bush's finger on the button was the smartest thing to do. America is seen world wide as a power country; if the power country shows weakness (taking his finger off the button) it makes us look weak. It’s the same way animals in the wild work. They work down their pray until they are weak. If we are shown as weak, then we are more likely to be a bigger target. The world is seeing America at each others throats with this health care junk and they are seeing that we are weak in moral. We need to be the America we were the months after 9/11.
