2 Wis. lawmakers ask for audit of ACORN funding
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Two Republican Wisconsin lawmakers want to know if any state money was going toward troubled community organizing group ACORN.
Sen. Ted Kanavas of Brookfield and Rep. Bill Kramer of Waukesha have asked the state Department of Administration and the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority for an audit.
The two agencies had no immediate comment Monday.
The U.S. Congress has voted to deny federal funds for ACORN in a GOP-led strike against the liberal-leaning group accused last year of submitting false voter registration forms.
In a video released last week, ACORN employees in Brooklyn were shown advising a couple posing as a pimp and prostitute to lie about her profession in applying for housing help.

"training and oversight issues to resolve"? Wow, fraud on an organizational level is simply training and oversight issues? Are you kidding janesvillean? Voter fraud, tax fraud, aiding criminal acts, and the list goes on. I bet you would have joined the 7 (yes, only 7) senators who voted not to cut federal funding for ACORN. How sad.

It is a criminal organization, with criminals as staffers promoting criminal behavior. I would hope that some questions are asked concerning the money of the hard working, overtaxed taxpayers of Wisconsin.

It so sad that it took two non-reporters to show the contempt of this organization.
If there only was a "real" media with news people that were not in the business to "rip-and-read". It would be so delightful for the news people to get back to the business of reporting facts and not just reading what was placed in front of them or reporting on what someone said was true...guess it is to difficult to find the truth they don't want to see or say.

janesvillean, can you share what you know that makes you believe that they don't want these incidents repeated? I don't get the same impression you do.

ACORN has accomplished many things, but they obviously have some training and oversight issues to resolve. Nobody at ACORN wants these incidents repeated, but they have to make the effort to eradicate the problems.

Leave it to AP to describe ACORN as “liberal-leaning”. They would describe Lenin as “slightly left of center”.
