DARIEN--The Darien Village Board on Monday night voted 4-2 against accepting a settlement with fired Police Chief Steve DeVoy.

The next step will be a hearing scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 29. The only thing that would stop the hearing is if DeVoy sued the village on the grounds that the settlement offer was legally binding, village attorney Mark Hazelbaker said.

DeVoy has been suspended with pay since December. He was fired in March, but is waiting on a hearing to make the firing official.

The settlement would have brought the chief back to work under strict conditions.

Is the hearing to begin tomorrow? I thought someone had posted on one of the forums that it was for next week.
