A Lafayette man convicted of sexually assaulting a young girl he knows was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without parole.

In July, a 12-person Walworth County jury found Leon L. Laudie, 45, of Lafayette Township, guilty of 20 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of sexual assault of a child younger than 13.

District Attorney Phil Koss asked for life in prison for the sexual assault count and three years for each of the child pornography counts, concurrent with the sexual assault count but consecutive with each other.

Judge James Carlson followed Koss’ recommendation.

“Clearly, this is a person who needs that,” Koss said of the sentence. “He has not been able to control himself.”

At the time of his first conviction it appears Wisconsin still had its old regime of rape/sexual assault laws in place. Today he would have been charged with the separate crime of sexual assault of a child, as he was in this case.

Don't patronize his business. I can't believe that parents still take their kids there. He gets rich off the children which seems ironic to me. I haven't been there since the article about it came out in the paper. I won't support a pedophile. Seems to me that going to that store is like saying that child molestation is OK. More people need to stand up for what they believe in and not just shop somewhere because it's convenient. There are other ice cream places in Janesville.

NO child should have to grow up with this type of offense against them!! I wouldn't even care to allow a monster see daylight if they offended another adult... and yes, I do know a sexual predator that sexually abused a vulnerable adult and walked away with only a 4-year restraining order!

IF he makes it to prison... ship these creeps to their own deserted island 2,000 miles from civilization to do whatever it is that they enjoy...... EWWWW! The thought of it is GROSS!

If I see someone TRY to do something to a child I don't even know, I will do what I have to do to protect that child!

So this is what is wrong with the judicial system. Why was he allowed to do this heinous act how many times did you say brwe 3 times? We need harsher punishments on first time offenders. Had this monster been locked up the first time and stayed locked up 2 other children wouldn’t be mentally and physically ruined for the rest of their lives! Sexual abuse is one of if not the hardest thing to overcome and its’ effects stay with you long into adulthood. This thing should be forced to have done to him what he did to the children (of course after being chemically and physically castrated so he gets no enjoyment) and be lobotomized. Because as we all know sexual assault isn’t always about sex its more likely than not about the power the perpetrator has over the victim that gives him or her satisfaction. I believe in harsh punishment for those who ruin others lives especially a childs life. And why put them up on jail where they get 3 square meals a day and exercise for an hour? Why give them any rights at all when they took away innocence? I say lock them in a room with other inmates and tell them what they did and let the inmates kill him or her. Why not? What use is he or she to society? A waste of the states money and the precious air and food we have. Harsh….You bet. I want to see anyone who hurts a child killed….why give them rights. They aren’t humans, they are monsters.

Before you get too excited over this verdict, understand that the life sentence was automatic, it was his 3rd conviction, & he got probation for the 1st one--a 1st degree sexual assault of a minor!

Eww! To do this to a child! Kids have enough troublesome things to fight growing up-- bullies, drugs, games, having a having, etc.
