JANESVILLE-

A house fire at 407 S. Ringold St., left a family homeless and caused the evacuation of Roosevelt Elementary School.

No one was injured, but two dogs and a rabbit died.

The fire started in the kitchen; investigators are still looking for an exact cause.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

The home is located about a block south of Roosevelt Elementary School. The heavy smoke drifted towards the elementary school and set off its alarms, school officials said.

Students evacuated the building at 2:45 p.m. The reentered the school shortly to get their belongings.

bobb1951, you have to remember there are an abundance of negative posters on here. We see it every day! God Bless this family. It would be terrible to lose everything in a fire or any other way. JMO

The humans will get help from local organizations... I feel bad for the 2 dogs and the bunny :( Sorry folks, but I prefer pets to most people.

I'm so sorry for this family to be out a home. I am also sorry for all the parents of children at that school who were going nuts trying to figure things out, and figure out where their kids were, with NO help from police and the school.

I live across the street from them.
It was horrible to only be able to stand and do nothing.
I saw the Red Cross come and was very Thankful for their presence.
If I can help them at all,
I hope they are comfortable in knocking on my door.
I will do anything in my power to help!
God Bless them

thank you rotegirl for the update. i was wondering how they were doing. i have gone through a fire myself and there is so much rebuilding to do. Please let us know if there is a place to donate... ages and sexes of children. The faster we can put their life back together, the better. the sad thing is the momentals that can never be replaced. That is the sad part.

NVgrf does being a bit judgemental somehow make you feel morally superior? I assure you both political extremes are hypocritical. Now getting back to the topic, yes this is very sad.

ihavealife,
since you are being classless and complaining about a typo, your post is quite incorrect.
It should be, "The reentered...." The ellipsis is placed inside quotation marks.

Our son attends Roosevelt and apparently it was a janitor's house that was at Roosevelt at the time. I can't begin to imagine what was going through his/ her mind when they received the news or saw it first hand. Thankfully nobody was injured, but it's too bad animals died in the fire.

What's worse, the guy with a personally interpreted class-less comment or the people who react in kind? Grow up people. Bummer about the dogs... Be nice if people could get together and get these people back in shape.

Wow, a family loses their home and you come on here selfishly whining about a typo and the size of the crossword. You, sir, are an ass.
