Milwaukee boycott of Arizona proposed

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Common Council will consider a boycott of Arizona-based companies in the wake of the state’s controversial law cracking down on illegal immigration.

Ald. Jim Witkowiak of Milwaukee’s 12th District plans to introduce a resolution Monday and call for a vote among council members Tuesday.

The text of the resolution criticizes the state’s decision to step into immigration policy, and says that it creates “unnecessary confusion and fear” among citizens and lawful immigrants and that the new law could threaten the civil rights of those stopped by Arizona authorities.

Witkowiak and immigration rights group Voces de la Frontera announced the resolution Saturday as marchers assembled in Milwaukee for what has become an annual immigration reform march.

If Witkowiak wants to play boycott, may we should send a message back to him. We agree with action to curb the illegal cycle and will do our own boycott.
How about one of the biggest American chain stores? We start by not buying goods from that store until congress in each state does something. Lets see, make sure you are buying American. Do not buy from the offending countries.

I have a question for those of you defending the "right" (ha!) for illegals to be here are also attacking those who put them to work. I want neither, but given that they are here and their presence here is supported by so many of you, how do you propose they earn any money while they're here? I hope it's your houses they would burglarize or worse.

Oh, wait. You also have the spineless "equal force" law, whereas I would have the legal right to defend my home by splattering their "donkey".
If they don't like it, I don't care. They shouldn't have been here in the first place. Then I'd hire LEGAL immigrants to clean up the mess.

It is Somewhat humourous to see, Government Bodies take issue with the 'keep them & separated & keep them' afraid' policies. Just to keep the American People fighting amoungst themselves, and ignoring true policies. Or there a Lack of Policy.
Yet they tend to ignore the real issues and place partisan blame on the REAL IMPORTANT ISSUES for the people as a whole population.
Does anybody else feel like we are in a whirl-wind of BS and not the promised *CHANGE* we have comming? Nothing has changed. Nothing is being accomplished by the said majority. It was hooplah-swave Spin once again. Wake up folks. Don't go along with the Offered Hype. Hype about what IS IMPORTANT to this country.
Milwaukee is NOT a good example. Real World Issues are. The issues that are killing our Sons and Daughters over seas. The issues that are stealing from our walettes. The rise in Property Taxes, and the lowering of assesment values* on our homes? (Kind of questionably backward, don't you think?) The issues of education for our children, in a time when education will be the sustainment of our Society & Economy in the near years to come.
This is about sending illegals home. This is about the only way to defeat the influx of illegals taking jobs away from American's. This is about money-out/ and not re-entered into the USA economy.( Don't feed me the bull please, they send % home.) This is about resources spent on a people that should be covered in their country but are not/ Thats not OUR responsibility.(Health Care-Education.) This is about If they follow the correct procedures, await their turn too ( alocated Legal Entry Numbers) Like any from overseas or outside of this country DO and are held to it legally.
Just because they are right next door, does not give special permission to enter illegally. This is wrong and drastic measures must be utilized to contain the situation. It is simple, non-complex, and the only way this can be handled at this time. Lighten up detractors of LAW. This law IS FOR YOUR WELL BEING.

916wi If Arizona would stop buying Miller Beer or Harley that would be the last nail in casket for them.
Just like people are boycotting Arizona Ice Tea. The tea is not even from Arizona its from New York. The only ones that want to keep them around are the ones that are screwing them over working them long hours. It you think they should stay in those State move down to those States and try to find a Job.
If you want to boycott Milwaukee go ahead if you don't know that City that well you will get your self lost and end up in the wrong part of Town and you may end up getting killed by some illegals.

Fewer people spending money in Milwaukee will turn that city into a bigger cesspool than it already is. I am completely with Arizona on this one. They should turn around and boycott Miller and Harley--there are great alternatives to both of those products......As far as NVgrf goes--take everything she says with a grain of salt. A truly clueless person who not too long ago was praising Medicare as an efficient and well run government program......Definitely not the brightest crayon in the box:)

It's no joke when a law is passed that in unconstitutional. Other states have every right and obligation to protest where it hurts -- in the pocketbook. Cops hate this law. The head law-enforcement officer of the state (governor) can't even tell them what it means (see press conference). Yet cops can be sued by some citizen if they don't think they're detaining enough brown folks for their tastes. What is the matter with you people? In the United States of America, we don't detain our own citizens for the crime of brownness! Oh wait, I guess if we're in Arizona we do now.

NVgrf.. Jobs like residential construction are not union. I see it happening more every year, crews show up packed in clapped out old mini van's with generic tools and throw budget homes up. There work reflects there wages. These are jobs that legal citizens are glad to do for relitively low wages. The ilegals are doing it for low cash wages making it much better pay.

I'm already boycotting Milwaukee because of the high crime rate. I fly out of Madison via a connecting flight rather than driving over to Mitchell Field in Milwaukee and leaving my car in a parking lot there.

Milwaukee politicians are against law-abiding citizens being able to defend themselves and now they are speaking up against law-abiding states trying to defend themselves. Having nasty holiday weekends doesn't seem to make an impression on them and I haven't seen Mayor Barrett's campaign web site indicating a change of heart about his position on Concealed Carry in Wisconsin after a thug with a criminal record tried to change (or crush, to be more exact) the mayor's mind with a pipe

How about boycotting Summerfest and going on vacation to Arizona?

Flagstaff has a music festival on June 19-20 and a folk festival on June 26-27.
http://www.flagstaffmusicfestival.com/
http://flagfolkfest.org/

Phoenix is holding the Official Twilight Convention on June 18-20.

The Diamondbacks are having home games:
Mon. June 21 vs Yankees (6:40 p.m.)
Tue. June 22 vs Yankees (6:40 p.m.)
Wed. June 23 vs Yankees (6:40 p.m.)

Arizona has a lot of parks and recreational events going on in the summer:

Let Milwaukee politicians know they should fix their own problems and keep their noses out of Arizona's business by voting with your wallet. Visit Arizona this summer before the Borg collective - I mean... the Federal government moves in to take over.

KTM....I work in Arizona. Illegals are not "killing blue collar workers" there. Arizona is a right to work state. Therefore, only the illegals will work for the non-union, crap wages that their jobs pay. 99% of non-Latinos who are offered these jobs run the other way.

The law is a tool. So many LEGAL citizens down there are having there asses handed to them by illegals, and the effects thereof, so why is it so wrong for the state to adjust to help it's citizens? If too many people were speeding on your street, then you would complain until the authorities cracked down on it, but oh wait a minute! This isn't peace loving and push over, and it's not politically correct or something, and 'they' just want to find work and bla bla bla...! It is not about skin color, and people need to be more realistic. Good for Arizona on being tough, and it's about time! I feel sad for the USA citizens who have lost their lives because of these illegals.

If concensus is a key to decision making in this country (supposed to be anyway), then look at how many people are supporting Arizona. That state isn't even crossing the line as they are only enforcing existing laws anyway, with a newer emphasis.

here is how websters defines 'liberalism' and i dont see where it says anything about a mental disorder.

1 : the quality or state of being liberal
2 a often capitalized : a movement in modern Protestantism emphasizing intellectual liberty and the spiritual and ethical content of Christianity b : a theory in economics emphasizing individual freedom from restraint and usually based on free competition, the self-regulating market, and the gold standard c : a political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of the human race, and the autonomy of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties; specifically : such a philosophy that considers government as a crucial instrument for amelioration of social inequities (as those involving race, gender, or class) d capitalized : the principles and policies of a Liberal party
— lib·er·al·ist \-b(ə-)rə-list\ noun or adjective

Guess that means that when the Brewers play Arizona, nobody should go to the stadium? And then maybe, the Brewers shouldn't go to Arizona to play the Diamondbacks. Heck, just go ahead and kick the Diamonbacks out of the MLB, likewise, get rid of the Cardinals and the Suns. Why just stop there, kick AZ out of the United States. All because a state wants to STOP ILLEGAL entry across its borders. Everybody complains about the illegals but when someone goes ahead and does something, well, shame on them. Do we want illegal aliens entering our country or not? YES OR NO?

Seriously... another police officer was shot by illegal immigrant drug smugglers. If the United States will not police its borders, then Arizona has no choice but to do it themselves. What is so wrong with making people obey the law once in a while? Is it that much of a shock that Milwaukee, the city with the highest crime rate in Wisconsin is promoting something that can only result in more lawlessness?
