Are you kidding me! Do it at bars and other business's, I can't believe I am hearing that. There has to be a reason for a search of a person or their belongings. Random searches at random places are unconstitutional.

I am assuming that also the teachers were checked? Brings to mind the Brodhead teacher fired for doing drugs. Don't forget to check everyone, not just the students.

Man I have to agree with the first poster. Seems like they do more of this bs than they do educating kids. I don't think these kinds of acts have any detterent for kids using drugs but maybe they don't keep them in there lockers as much so what's the point? no wonder why home schooling is getting more popular with stuff like this wasting time.

How confusing! Marijuana advocates all seem to think it's a good idea to keep marijuana out of the hands of children yet so many of them seem to be saying here that keeping marijuana out of the hands of children is a waste of time and money. I guess the idea of children buying and selling drugs in school corridors doesn't bother some people.
I'm glad to see the police didn't find anything. These random searches seem to be working. But then, if the children knew about the search in advance as Paytomuchtax says, then the fruitlessness of the search doesn't mean anything. I wonder who on the police force could be tipping the children off, if that is what happened? If that is the case, I hope the Chief is investigating.

Nothing was found because the kids knew it was coming. They were talking about it over the weekend calling each other letting them know. I worked with some kids who go to Parker and the were talking about it at work on Saturday. Hard to find anything if they know it's coming ahead of time.

Frusion - Your negativity is not helpful in any way, shape, or form. There was not a minute of instructional time lost for this soft lockdown. So, before you make negative ASSumptions, know what you're talking about!

Why would the police think they would find a drug dog in a school?

lovemycountry what is wrong with saying as long as my son is safe, I also have a son at Parker and I want him safe also just like I want my daughter at Edison to be safe. I don't see a problem with that statement.

RE: Comment "As long as my son is safe". As long as my son is safe, the $50B losing war on drugs should continue. As long as my son is safe, the losing war on drugs should continue to cause drug gang murders, international drug cartel control, violence, and mass police executions. As long as my son is safe, thousands in North America should continue to die each year as a result of the losing war on drugs.

Do these K9 dogs also detect alcohol and/or tobacco? Those substances are regulated by age limits and therefore are illegal for most HS students to possess...

As long as my son is safe, that is all that matters to me. He is worth the time sacrificed from education as long as he is okay.

I wonder if there was overlap on changing classes during this search? This is already a short school week and to waste more class time is amusing. Between the roof blowing off, teacher conferences, in-service days, etc., I think there's only been a couple of weeks in the past 2 months that has been a normal full week of school.
