LAKE GENEVA--Retired design engineer Terry O’Neill knocked off six-year incumbent Donald Tolar by a slim margin Tuesday in the District 4 alderman race. Meanwhile, Ellyn Kehoe retained her seat over William Cousino in a rematch of last year’s District 1 election.

O’Neill beat Tolar 138 to 122 and Kehoe won her race 176 to 147, according to the Walworth County clerk’s office. O’Neill campaigned on fiscal responsibility and proper conduct of city officials, referring to various lawsuits involving the city council and its members.

Tolar said he was proud of what he accomplished over the last six years. He doesn’t plan to continue following the local government—instead, he’ll take the time off to relax.

This was the second time Kehoe and Cousino faced one another. Last year, the two fought for the District 1 seat after it was vacated by Alderman Spyro “Speedo” Condos, who resigned in fall 2009.

Kehoe won that race, 212-177.
