Wis. Congressman Paul Ryan to tour his district

By ASSOCIATED PRESS   Thursday, April 14, 2011 - 6:33 a.m.

JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan plans to tour his southeastern Wisconsin district to talk about federal policy issues.

He's going to 19 communities from Monday to April 29. His district includes parts or all of Rock, Racine, Walworth, Kenosha, Waukesha and Milwaukee counties.

Ryan is the House Budget Committee Chairman and his budget proposal has been embraced by the House Republican leadership. He wants to reduce spending by more than $5 trillion over 10 years with structural overhauls to Medicare and Medicaid while also making permanent all Bush-era tax cuts.

In a statement, Ryan says he looks forward to talking about the issues of the district and how Congress can reduce the nation's $14 trillion in debt, rein in spending, and help economic growth.

Ok wislady you had my last comment removed but you did not answer my question. So I will phrase it differently then. In your eyes then people who do not believe as you do are not then members of the public & should not be able to express their opinion when Paul Ryan is speaking? Only you & yours should have that option? This is exactly what you said:

Will the public be able to listen and speak with Ryan when he is in town, or are the protesters going to show up and yell everyone down?

What exactly did i not understand?

Did you not refer to you & yours as the public & the protesters as a different entity?

Governor Doyle in 8 years raised taxes on the rich and the corporations and what has happened to Wisconsin? Few jobs and fewer job creators.
This rhetoric on the Democrat side that Republicans want old people to die or bad air or starve the children is ridiculous and anyone who buys into that stupidity isn’t engaged politically. NEITHER side wants that, but it will hurt Democrats in 2012 for the lack of civility and really complete nonsense.
I like Paul Ryan’s plan to shrink government.

I know this is a dumb question, but has anybody speaking for or against, even taken a look at this?
-------
This thing by his own plan, won't be taking effect even if they passed it tomorrow.
------
There's a provision, that reductions in spending will NOT occur in time of an "economic downturn" or in a time of war. Well we've got both, thus no spending reductions.
-------
He also assumes that industry like construction and home sales are going to return to 2006 levels, you know the rate that was fueled by predatory lending, bad loans, free money and the whole spending spree that started this. His plan requires us to be back at those levels to fill his "plan"
------
all I gotta say, is get off your "sides" and pay attention. Quit fighting because of what your side tells you to. Start thinking on your own for once

His income grows in leaps and bounds as he helps put Wisconsin and the rest of the U.S workers and families in the poor house.
Maybe we could have someone from a university or other organization set up a math book for kids, it would include Ryan's facts in simple form.
Then kids could get a better understanding and equate the results of Ryan's attack on family values in a step by step playbook. We don't need smoke and mirrors, just numbers that even Walker could grasp, because we don't want him to drop out again.
Walker could also create an education book " The Fleecing of Wisconsin"

pastafarian-your logic is truly incredible-unfortunately, no matter how you choose to phrase it, taxes are paid by PEOPLE. And we are still all waiting to be enlightened by the left as to curing the deficit/budget problems-because again, no matter how much you raise taxes there is not enough money or "wealth" as you like to put it to pay for everything anymore. So where do you propose making the cuts-because our fearless leader in Washington, D.C refuses to address the hard questions and only blames the Republicans and continues to play the blame game.

At the end of the Clinton Admin. there was a balanced budget. Then Bush came in, and spent, spent, spent, and ruined it all and he cut the corporate tax rate too drastically. That is why we are where we are. Then Obama, came in to try and fix the Bush mess, and it was just about impossible to fix. That is why the President will not back down on the top 2% paying their fair share.

Now, about the gas prices. They are too high now and they were too high during the Bush era too.

Now the news media is reporting high gas prices are because of the Libyan situation.

We need some clean energy. But you can forget that for the state of Wisconsin under the Walker dictatorship. The company from Illinois who was going to come here and bring jobs with 3 wind farms said, "THE CURRENT LEGISLATIVE CLIMATE IN THE STATE OF WISCONSIN IS NOT CONDUCIVE TO GOOD BUSINESS."

The governor continually demonstrates his animosity toward the working class people of the state. He sends jobs away. He has not created any. And he also takes credit for creating some now, that were really created under the Doyle Admin.

Walker is bad for Wisconsin. Ryan is bad for Wisconsin and the nation. They only thing they are good for is asking how high they should jump when the Koch Bros., big corporations, big insurance companies, big banks, or Wall Street tells them to.

Rep. Ryan at least has a plan to turn around this mess we are in. Will there be winners and losers? There always is. Contrary to what our liberal friends believe, the wealthy pay more than their share of taxes and have for far too long. We can lower the taxes for most (that pay taxes) by lowering the entitlements that people now believe are their right to receive. It is high time that liberals begin supporting themselves and stop this sharing the wealth mentality.
What this country needs are a lot more folks like Ryan & Walker. They are attempting to put our country back on the right track.

As for the tired mantra that we need to increase taxes and make all those "rich" people pay their "fair share" and all our budget issues will magically disappear-per the IRS ( in 2008 ) the entire taxable income of those earning $100,000 or more was approximately 1.6 trillion dollars-so even if you tax those people at 100% that would still not be enough to cover Obama's proposed deficit for this year much less enable us to lower it-like it or not, all those expensive entitlements need to be dealt with because we can no longer afford them at the current levels-all the liberals sticking their head in the sand will do nothing to solve the problms of social security,medicare,etc-and our President offered no solution to those problems yesterday because ha lacks the guts/fortitude/leadership that it would take to anger his liberal base.

Interesting and informative, and written by one that doesn't agree with the right's budget strategy. This is why many have lost faith in Obama. No leadership.

Reaganomics and Ryanomics do not work. Maybe they work for the rich Ryans, but it doesn't work for average people. Besides the speculation on Wall Street causing the depression, outsourcing good paying jobs also
contributed. By eliminating highly taxed factory workers you decrease governments coffers. Somebody has to pick up the slack.

FYI-Ryan usually has a couple of aides with him. Last time I saw him he was in a black Chevy Suburban.
You people that are so intent on critizing him should take the time and go to one or two of the meetings and let him know how you feel. He'll listen to you whether you believe it or not. Or you just can stay at home and keep b*cthing and whinng.

concernedperson - So because some people don't agree with Obama's plan, the race card gets brought into it? Give me a break. It's ok for others to not agree with Ryan's plan, so he has to go. When others don't agree with the PRESIDENTS plan, it racism. I don't think so.

bebe53: I will disagree with you on our president. He is doing a good job and he did give an answer on how to reduce the deficit. Some people still cannot get over the fact that our president is colored. I still believe there are rascist issues for many people.

The president gave an answer to reducing the deficit. Some of you just don't agree with it. Just like I don't agree with Ryan giving out vouchers. The vouchers aren't going to go very far when paying for private insurance. People are going to be left "high and dry." Seniors on medicare are not going to be able to get the health care they need.

Ryan is heartless. He needs to be gone from politics. He is bad for our nation and its' people.

In a statement, Ryan says he looks forward to talking about the issues of the district and how Congress can reduce the nation's $14 trillion in debt, rein in spending, and help economic growth.Don't you mean steal from the workers, the women and the kids and give the money to the one's who want to reign supreme?
Must be going to get a lesson on computer counting 101 in Waukesha.

"He's more interested in making a name for himself"-kind of like Obama's speech yesterday in regards to the budget-long on rhetoric, totally lacking in substance/detail, and nothing more than pandering to the liberal base for his re-election run. What a joke for a president-no leadership, no sense of compromise, and no clue on how to run a country much less resolve a multi-trillion dollar deficit

nugnrose - He's more interested in making a name for himself? Pretty sure he's already accomplished "his name" over the last 11 years. He's not going anywhere. I'd say National coverage across the globe is making a name for yourself. Not to mention having the balls to at least try and figure out our debt issue. You may not like his solutions, but it's more than what the rest of those in office offered. Of course, until now, after something they don't like has been presented. How convenient.

I totally agree with nug. Cut the government waste and career politicians and hold offices more accountable then we'll see where the debt is. I'm guessing that sooo much of our tax dollars are going for $1000.00 hammers (just an example) and we need to not have our money spent so frivioulsy!

The article says the tour begins this coming Monday which is April 18. It ends April 29.

He doesn't listen to me. He turns a deaf ear to things he doesn't want to hear.

"Yea, right. He'll talk about the issues with you, as long as your views are the same as his. Time to send Ryan packing, he's more interested in making a name for himself than representing his constituents."

See.....this is the big issue with liberals. They want government to solve everything in their lives. If their senators/representatives are not raising taxes, punishing free enterprise, or passing legislation to cure society from its ills, they are not happy. The less politicians do, the less damage they do to this country.

Definitely cheaper than Oblunder using Air Force One to fly around telling people how the porkulus bill is working.

You people have nothing better to do than make stupid comments like this? Go do something worth while, help your neighbors or elderly people, smile and live life because it is to short. Your never going to be happy if you continue to do this kind negative stuff all the time.

Reducing the national debt is a good thing, how Ryan wants to do it is a bad thing. I suggest we start cutting at the top: term limits, cut Ryan's pay by 25%, no pension, no lifetime medical care. Cut waste and fraud in Medicare before cutting benefits. Limit the President's authority to send troops into combat without congressional approval, and cut waste and fraud out of the defense budget. That would be a good start.

The story says that the tour will begin April 19. How long will the tour last? What will he be touring in? Where will he be spending the night or nights? Will he be touring by himself? There seem to be a lof of unanswered questions.

One would think that a Wisconsin tour should include places other than the areas he has picked. The Dells is nice this time of year and a nice trip up to the Kickapoo River area might be lovely. A real nice trip is up to Copper Falls State Park. He could rent several busses and his followers could just sort of come along for a nice chat on the bus.
