Police won’t boot protesters from Capitol
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Police say they won’t force hundreds of pro-union demonstrators to leave the Wisconsin Capitol and will allow them to stay overnight.
Wisconsin Capitol Police Chief Charles Tubbs says no demonstrators will be arrested as long as they continue to obey the law.
Police had earlier asked all protesters to leave by 4 p.m. so the Capitol could get its first thorough cleaning in two weeks.
Protesters began camping out inside the normally immaculate building two weeks ago in an effort to fight legislation proposed by Wisconsin’s new Republican governor that would strip most public employees of the right to collectively bargain.

egalindo I am a union memeber and first i have to say again.. I am totaly against what is happening here.. second it is people like you that fall for that crap about those forgein cars being "American" that got us here.. that money all goes back to the home land and our goverments give them all kinds of tax breaks so they don't even pay in at the same rate that our companies do.. and third.. where the heck in Wisconsin do we build any of those cars.. we use to build GM and Chrysler.. but now we don't.. so your arguement about them being "American" has no weight here!!.. Our plants got shut down and that is all that matters.. I am betting you drive one of those cars , so you must justify it to the world why your not part of the problem.. well if that works for ya... Good Luck with that!! but i will say it clear and loud.. IF YOU DRIVE A FORGEIN CAR OR TRUCK AND ONLY SHOP FOR THE CHEAPEST CRAP YOU CAN GET FROM CHINA, YOU HAVE NO SAY IN THIS FIGHT.. IT IS YOUR FAULT IT IS HAPPENING!!

Tubbs needs to do his job, he was told to clear the building.
It is time for him to quit protesting and follow orders, unless he is on vacation.
There are guidelines set up for visitors to the Capitol, and that does not allow for attaching items to the wall, railings, or even allowing helium balloons inside.
It is very clear cut.

The Taft-Hartley Labor Act of 1947 is the law here.
The act established control of labor disputes on a new basis by enlarging the National Labor Relations Board and providing that the union or the employer must, before terminating a collective-bargaining agreement, serve notice on the other party and on a government mediation service.

Time for everyone who is just as disgusted with the lack of respect for this beautiful building to be contacting Mr Tubbs. Ask him to do his job.

This is the problem - public sector unions create a second authority for the public employees to be loyal to. They are loyal to the Union not the people elected to have power over them. This is treason. The police chief should be fired without warning or reprimand. Further, charges should be issued.
The next obvious move is to bring in the National Guard whom the Governor does have power.
This is proof positive that the back of the public union must be broken without mercy.

Nice of you to care now that it effects you,, you should have cared a long time ago!! In 2008, Tubbs was paid $109,000 tax dollars a year, and for that, he has turned the Capitol Police into room service for squatters… Nice.

It's funny to see all these "union supporters", who answer the call for unity amongst all unions. They preach about solidarity and then call the cheapest non-union contractor to do repairs at their house. I know you will all claim you don't, but you do. When you need tuck-pointing, do you call a union mason? No! When you need an outlet replaced, do you call a union electrician? No! I know, because I am in the Union, and know the shortage of work in the construction trades. You will place an ad on Craigslist looking for the cheapest person around...depriving union workers the same rights to a fair wage you so selfishly reserve for yourself! Where was your voice when GM and construction workers were getting laid off? Oh yeah....looking for cheap non-union labor to do repairs around your house. I am all for unions remaining strong, but find the hypocritical rhetoric nauseating, when I know that these are the same people who cross construction pickets in a second!

Apparently, laws mean nothing to the protestors either. I do not respect anyone protesting or Walker or the 14 Democratics in Illinois. What is this world coming to when NO ONE is respecting anyone but themselves and what they want? I wish we had trillions of $$ to spend, because that is the ONLY thing that will make everyone happy. The union wanted a democratic in office as they contributed millions to their campaign (according to the Gazette). I'm just saying there is NO answer to help Wisconsin to get us out of debt and balance our budget. So why don't we just print unlimited money and lets just spend until we are all so happy. As much as some are sick of Walker, as much as some are sick of teachers protesting, can anyone tell me how we can all be happy and balance our budget, & if you know why didn't you run for Govenor?

I have a couple questions. First are all the protesters that are refusing to leave the Capital building not working? I too am a union member, but I have a job to go to tomorrow. It's a job I have a lot of respect for and if any of you have jobs I would think you would be going to your job instead of spending the night at the Capital, after all I think the point has been made already. Question number two is Are my union dues being used to pay you while you sit at the Capital building while I work because if so I want my money back. The Police have asked that you leave and now the building is stinking and you still refuse and enough already. Lets let the Senators that were elected come home and let them do the job they were elected to do and let Democracy take over now. You had your say let's get this thing rolling. Enough. It's a sad day when they say our State Capital building is smelling like a locker room.
