It's back to the Super Bowl for the Packers

Aaron Rodgers ran for a touchdown and made a saving tackle, B.J. Raji returned an interception for a score and Sam Shields had two interceptions to lead the Green Bay Packers to a 21-14 win over the Chicago Bears in the NFC championship game Sunday.

The victory sends the Packers (13-6) to the Super Bowl in Dallas on Feb. 6 to meet the winner of the New York Jets-Pittsburgh Steelers AFC title game later Sunday.

Raji's TD return in the final quarter put the Packers up 21-7. Green Bay then withstood a rally led by Chicago third-string quarterback Caleb Hanie. He led two fourth-quarter TD drives, but Chicago's last chance to tie the game ended in the final minute when Shields came up with his second interception in Packers' territory.

Bears starter Jay Cutler hurt his knee and played only one series in the third quarter. Todd Collins replaced him but was ineffective. Chicago ends the season at 12-6.

Great win for the Pack. Now go to Dallas and bring the Lombardi Trophy home where it belongs.

Hard to believe how classless many Bears fans are in reacting to Cutler's injury. It sure did not take the fans very long to find their scapegoat. Wow! Makes me glad to be a Packer fan.

mymaro - didn't have the stones to post the disgusting, vulgar message that you sent me privately?... of course, it would have been deleted by staff immediately. You should be interested to know that I forwarded that message to Gazette management. You really ought to look into some mental health management and medication. You have a very serious illness. I just hope there is some intervention before you pull a " Jerad Loughner," as your msg to me makes it pretty clear how mentally unstable you are. BTW, I'm not a fan of Packers or Bears, but to call Butler "heartless?" I'd like to see YOU simply WALK with a torn meniscus, let alone play two quarters of a football game with one. Get some help.

My only concern is that Da Bears seem to have actually found a quarterback in Hanie. Could spell trouble for the future!

Wislady: Hate to break it to you this way, but the Packers played the Denver Broncos in 1997 and lost. They played New England in 1996. I am sure it is still a great hat though. hee hee.

Congrats to the Pack, I thought the Bears would pull it off but there's no arguing it, they were outplayed and outcoached. Good luck GB, but this may be one of those rare years when I have to skip watching the Superbowl.

Had friends over for a big pot of chili, fresh bread and all the refreshments one could consume. The playoff game was awesome! Oldest child was THERE, in the stands, with fam members! She's still in gridlock traffic leaving the game, but thrilled for the win!

Go Pack!!!
