WAUNAKEE, Wis. (AP) — U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin of Madison says she still hasn't decided whether she'll run for the Senate seat that fellow Democrat Herb Kohl is vacating.

Baldwin said Thursday she's giving the idea serious thought, and plans to decide sometime down the line. She calls Kohl "irreplaceable."

Her comments came as she toured a Waunakee senior center with House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Kohl has said he won't seek a fifth term next year. His announcement prompted a flurry of speculation in both parties over who might run to replace him.

On the Republican side, U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan said he won't run but associates of Tommy Thompson say the former Wisconsin governor might give it a try.

Possible Democratic candidates include former Sen. Russ Feingold and Rep. Ron Kind.

The intellectual people of Wisconsin have already told Russ to get a different job. I do realize that sometimes people need to be told twice. So here you are: Russ, get out of politics and our lives!
Why is it so difficult to understand that we are tired of the same old progressive talking points and the redistribute the wealth garbage?
Let's keep Wisconsin moving forward.

Baldwin graduated Valedictorian of her Madison high school class. She's an intelligent respectable lady. I'd vote for her for sure, but like JanesvilleJoe said, I just don't know if she could win, and we don't want to split the vote and cause the Democrats to lose. Tammy's smart enough... she's probably considering the same. See if Feingold is running first.

Oh boo. You guys are no fun. With your deeply rooted knowledge base of Rep. Paul Ryan's vast cache of state and district achievements and sharp-witted superiority, I thought for sure I'd learn something today. Maybe next time, right? Such is life.

Lets' start out with SeniorCare shall we? When Paul Ryan helped formulate and voted for Medicare Part D, his position on SeniorCare was to warn the state to start preparing its seniors enrolled in Seniorcare for the inferior and expensive Medicare Part D supplement. So much for state's rights eh? Only until Wisconsin Democrats led by Baldwin and Feingold did they sneak funding into a congressional bill – was SeniorCare spared from Ryan's axe. Baldwin 1 - Ryan Zero.

Let's try that again:

I like Tammy enough, but I really doubt she can win a statewide race.

Seriously, anybody want to compare what Baldwin has done for the state of Wisconsin to Paul Ryan? This is not a trick question - I'll argue on behalf of Baldwin (as a citizen of course) against all of Ryan's supporters in the Gazette's blogs - this way the fight is fair.

Please, please, please, please run Tammy.

By the way, how did that request for a federal investigation into the Brookfield vote question go for you?

Gee, I wonder what's taking her so long to decide? She's had a whole week now. She must be a nambe pambe, someone that can't make up their mind, oh wait that was what the libs were saying about Paul Ryan on the day after Herbie woke up and quit.

Hopefully she will decide to just pack her bags and go home; in my opinion she is a waste of space in House and would be even more so in the Senate. In my humble opinion of course.

Actually, Tammy has done A LOT of good for hospitals, ERs, and veterans in the state. Look at her record of seeking funding for equipment for hospitals and ERs throughout her district (small towns as well as in Madison), as well as her unbending support of US veterans. THOSE are Wisconsin values, no matter what your beliefs.

You can judge the character of a man (or woman) by the company he/she keeps.
And remember Tammy seems to be hanging with Nancy Pelosi. Please remember this when voting.

She probably is too liberal for the state as a whole. She is more active than some of you seem to know, though, being a co-sponsor on 33 bills in the last session including agriculture, women's rights, and family protection. She does work for this state's values.

If she decides not to run for whatever reason I look forward to those who bashed Ryan for his decision remaining consistent and posting that her liberal policies (of course, can anyone name any legislation she has actually authored) are causing her to realize that she can't win a large election and that she is in fact a "chicken". That is the standard right? We have already determined that the mayor of Milwaukee meets the criteria the left leaning posters have established.

Outside her safe haven of liberal Madison, I don't think Baldwin has very good odds of winning this senate seat, at least I hope not! I would be willing to wager that most people can not name one good thing she has done for Wisconsin.
