1 dead in manufacturing accident

THERESA, Wis. (AP) — One worker is dead and another critically injured after they were overcome by chemical fumes at a Dodge County manufacturing plant.

Sheriff Todd Nehls said a 55-year-old man has died. A 65-year-old man was in critical condition when was taken to a hospital, but the sheriff says that man is breathing and “progressing very well.”

Nehls told WISN-TV that the 65-year-old man’s wife found the two men unconscious about 3:45 p.m. Monday at Vivid Image in Theresa.

According to the sheriff, the men were mixing two or three compounds when they apparently were overcome by the resulting fumes.

The sheriff said a hazmat team decontaminated 15 to 20 first responders who arrived at the scene.
Names of the two men have not been released. An autopsy is scheduled Tuesday.
