GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Ticket brokers report demand is down for tickets to the Green Bay Packers’ home opener against New Orleans next Thursday.

When the lockout ended, the NFL season opener was a hot ticket on the Packers’ home schedule. Prices were starting at nearly $300 for some brokers.

But demand has slipped in recent weeks. The Green Bay Press-Gazette (http://bit.ly/plF1qn) reports brokers still have hundreds of tickets, some selling for as little as $130.

Brokers blame the Thursday night time slot.

John Schmidt, owner of Schmitty’s Tickets near Appleton, says kids are in school and people work on Friday. Schmidt says he still had about 400 tickets.

While Titletown Tickets owner Bill Wenzel says his starting price has dipped in the past two weeks, he says tickets are still selling well.

I may be misinformed but isn't it illegal to scalp tickets in Wisconsin? Why is it different when a company does it?

I would add that the NFL needs only to look to NASCAR to find out what happens when you drive ticket prices to the stratosphere. Many NASCAR telecasts make a concerted effort to not show the empty stands.

All of these brokers charge double or triple (or more) than what the face value of the ticket is . The price of a ticket is high enough as it is. I hope they eat them.
