MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republican U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde is raising concerns over a new attack ad against him by an independent group that is a client of the same firm running Tommy Thompson's campaign.

The Americans for Job Security ad began running on Thursday.

Americans for Job Security is listed as a client of Persuasion Partners, a consulting firm running Thompson's campaign.

Hovde spokesman Sean Lansing said Friday that connection smacks of illegal coordination. He is calling on Thompson to either stand behind the ad's attacks or call on the group to disclose its donors.

Darrin Schmitz, president of Persuasion Partners and a consultant to Thompson's campaign, says he did work for the group four years ago but nothing since. He calls the Hovde accusation "a cheap shot from a desperate campaign."

happycamper, you are correct about half your statement. Tommy did take 100 million from the WRS but had to pay all back with interest. This was court ordered.

wislady - I have a few websites that show what the Tea Party looks like. Want to see them? I really hate to post stuff like that but you seem to like to go to the dark side.

A Republican multimillionaire who has donated and coordinated how $4 million of his own money will be spent is now complaining about undocumented coordination between an opponent's campaign and an independent group that is donating to the opponent's campaign. This is great entertainment.

Is he trying to tell me that this politic'ing is getting dirty, using half truths and using many shades of gray to portray people in an unflattering light? You gotta be kidding me.

This guy is a multi-millionaire banker that has lived in Washington DC for 27 years and moves here to run for Senate. He sure has our best interests in mind (not)!

TOMmy left office after raising Wisconsin taxs and running Wisconsin's Deficit to 2.4 BILLION. He then took $100 MILLION from the WRS (Wisconsin Retirement System) and loaned it to his Republican croonies (none have paid it back) then lost his law suit with the WRS over this one hundred million dollar withdrawl and ordered to pay back millions (to WRS). We the people have not paid back this thieves $100 million dollar withdraw and Walker just took every penny of state savings to pay off our debt TOMmy created. Why would anyone vote for TOMmy?
