A 64-year-old Chicago man, James M. Menard, was killed Saturday in a two-car crash shortly before 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 11 and Highway B just west of Janesville.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office reports that a car driven by Tara Carlson, 39, Janesville, failed to stop at the stop sign and struck a car driven by Randall J. Owens, 64, Footville. Menard was a passenger in the vehicle operated by Owens.

Owens and two other passengers in his car, Ellen R. Owens, 56, Footville, and Ruth A. Coyle, 57, Chicago, were taken to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville where they were treated and released. Carlson was taken to University Hospital in Madison by Med Flight. A condition report on Carlson was not available.

Carlson was arrested on one count of homicide by the intoxicated use of a vehicle and three counts of causing injury by the intoxicated use of a vehicle.

Rock County Sheriff Robert Spoden said the investigation is continuing.
