Police searching for man after south-side Janesville robbery

TOWN OF ROCK-Police are searching for a man they think robbed a bank Thursday on Janesville’s south side. The man’s description fits that of a July 30 bank robbery in Kenosha County, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.

A bank robbery was reported at 9:14 a.m. Thursday at First National Bank, 2636 S. Highway 51. The man handed a teller a note demanding money, according to the news release. He did not display a weapon. He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and drove away in a tan compact car, according to the news release. When police arrived, they were unable to locate the vehicle, according to the news release.

The man is described as white and in his mid-20s. He is between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall. He was wearing a brown long-sleeved sweater, blue jeans, black-framed sunglasses and a tan Panama hat.
