MILWAUKEE—A funeral for former Marquette University coach Rick Majerus will be held Saturday in Milwaukee.

Majerus, who got his start as an assistant under Al McGuire at Marquette, died Saturday at age 64 at a Los Angeles hospital. He led Utah to the 1998 NCAA final and had only one losing season in 25 years with four schools.

The funeral home in charge of arrangements says a funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Gesu Catholic Church.

Majerus was born in Milwaukee. His ties to Wisconsin included a one-year stint as assistant coach with the NBA’s Bucks in 1987-88. Saint Louis announced last month that the coach would not return to the school because of his ailing heart.
