Firefighters battling compost pile fire
LA PRAIRIE TOWNSHIP—At least a half dozen fire department are battling a compost pile fire at Bedrock Grinding, 1105 E. LT Townline Road, Janesville.
According to scanner chatter, the Turtle Township Fire Department was dispatched at 6:57 a.m. Thursday for a report of a pallet fire at this La Prairie Township business.
Shortly afterward, it was reported to be a compost pile on fire and not a pallet fire, which a Rock County Communication dispatcher confirmed.
Clinton, Town of Beloit, city of Beloit, Sharon and Harlem/Roscoe fire departments are providing mutual aid at the scene, the dispatcher confirmed.
