Jackknifed semitrailer truck hits vehicle, closes I-39/90

JANESVILLE—A jackknifed semitrailer truck swept through the east and westbound lanes of Interstate 39/90 early today, hitting another vehicle and causing at least one injury, a Rock County 911 dispatcher reported.

According to 911 dispatch reports, a semitrailer truck was eastbound on I-39/90 near the Highway 26 interchange at 3:33 a.m. today when it jackknifed and spilled into the westbound lanes, hitting another vehicle.

At least one person was injured in the accident and was transported to a hospital by Janesville Fire Department, the 911 dispatcher reported. Officials believed the injuries were not life threatening, the dispatcher said.

Traffic was shut down near the crash for about an hour while emergency crews and the Wisconsin State Patrol dealt with the aftermath, the dispatcher said.

There were no immediate details on the cause of the crash, and there it’s not clear whether weather played a role in the crash. The area had light snow overnight.
