Board faces decision to negotiate or wait
JANESVILLE--The Janesville School Board will wait until next month to respond to the teachers union’s request to negotiate a new contract.
The board met behind closed doors Tuesday and discussed matters relating to potential negotiations, but the board made no decisions and took no votes, board President Bill Sodemann said.
Board member Kevin Murray wants to negotiate. He said he is fighting an uphill battle.
“Maybe our employees have ideas we haven’t considered,” Murray said. “Our teachers want buy-in, and I think that’s best for all involved. But this time I’m in the minority (on the board.)”

What a shock!! The board is nothing more than a politically motivated JOKE!! Who is surprised? Get these stupid partisans OFF the board and focus on making an efficient yet effective district. The answer to everthing is not spend money, but in the same respects the answer is certainly not to cut , cut, cut, that only affects the kids and their teachers and that type of mentality will only make this city and her people poorer and dumber. By the looks at the clowns poting in these boards I feel like we may be too late.

Of course not! There isn't a single workplace other than the schools where employees and employers work together on things like this! (Sarcasm)How hypocritical that the majority of the board would not practice what they ask the teachers to do...work with others (colleagues, parents, students, etc)I guess they are taking their cues from the pig-headed Congress we keep electing. Nobody is willing to compromise, budge, listen, explore...

God forbid that all parties involved work together to solve problems and improve schools.
