JANESVILLE—A Janesville man is in custody at the Rock County Jail after being arrested early Wednesday morning on multiple charges.

According to a Rock County Sheriffs Office news release, a deputy clocked a vehicle speeding that also crossed the road’s centerline and nearly hit the deputy’s squad car at 4:11 a.m. Wednesday on County D in the area of West Hanover Road.

After stopping the vehicle, the deputy noticed it had heavy front-end damage and its driver Terence Rittenhouse, 45, of Janesville, had facial injuries from a crash that had happened earlier. Where is still unknown.

The deputy also detected an odor of intoxicants on Rittenhouse’s breath.

Rittenhouse was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants, reported to be his seventh offense; operating left of center and speeding.

He was taken to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center for treatment of his injuries before being released to the Rock County Jail.
