Report: Property taxes go up less than 1 percent
MADISON—A new report says property taxes across Wisconsin are increasing less than 1 percent on average.
The Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance report says net property taxes statewide are increasing seven tenths of a percent. That is up from two-tenths of a percent increase last year, but less than the 2.8 percent and 4.2 percent increases from the two previous years.
Taxpayers Alliance president Todd Berry says a major reason for the small increase this year is state-imposed revenue and levy limits on local governments.
Property tax bills are being mailed to homeowners this month. While the average increase is low, bills vary widely based on an individual homeowner’s circumstances. The largest users of property taxes in Wisconsin are K-12 schools, municipalities, counties and technical college districts.

Assessment dropped and for 2nd straight year ... property tax went down on Wisconsin property. Assessment dropped and property tax went up for Illinois property last year ... expect the same will happen this year. I like the direction my Wisconsin taxes have taken. In addition, overall property taxes on Wisconsin taxes are about $800 less than on Illinois property even though Wisconsin property is assessed at a higher value.

What pithy posts by Mouse and GoodAmerican. If a person saw nothing else of Janesville but the posts they amuse themselves with by leaving on these boards like so many mouse droppings in th cupboard, they may very well say "low brow at its finest" indeed.

Funny how taxes keep raising but home value keeps decreasing. No wonder you have so many foreclosures.

Property taxes down $24, .7% for me. However I am paying $20 more dollars in a wheel tax, $40 more for garbage, still don't have the new bins, water bill has gone up 45% since I bought my house 10 years ago and all of my professional licensing fees have doubled in the last 2 years costing another $500 per year. All Walker did was pass the state taxes onto the county, cities and schools who are still trying to figure out what to cut for the next fiscal budget.

Mouse, are you stalking me or something? You must have absolutely no other life if you actually searched on the website to find out a comment I must have made a year ago. Now you have moved from annoying to scary in my book.

thank you bennetonf1, "Lowbrow, relating to, or suitable for a person with little taste or intellectual interest".
At it's worst, it might seem not so good, But at it's finest, a compliment for sure!
I don't drink to excite my taste buds. And after about 12 of em, my intellectual interest are basically limited to flirting with my wife, or watching a Jerry Springer marathon.

mouse...Walker gave the school districts and cities the tools to keep their taxes down if they chose. Some cities and towns voted increases anyway. That's their decision. And our property taxes have not risen like they did when Doyle was gov. And all of Doyle's hidden tax increases.

property taxes may not have gone up, but the license plates have. So have the water bills, garbage bills, etc. ,, and now a wheel tax. Overall, the impact on the working class has gone up considerably. And, once again, the working stiff pays the most..

Property taxes might have gone up less than 1%, but unscrupulous city leaders are coming up with creative workarounds to destroy any savings the voters may have demanded.
I'm just sayin'...
