JANESVILLE – The Janesville School District will not be in session Friday.

Officials announced Thursday night that there would be no school on Friday.

Friday was to have been the last day of school before winter break. School resumes Wednesday, Jan. 2.

In a news release, the district said the decision was made because: - "We will get another inch of snow yet today. - "High winds will cause drifting through the night. - "City & county plows have been pulled off the roads until tomorrow. - "The bus company has notified us that some or all of the rural routes cannot be done tomorrow morning. - "Power outages are still not fixed, and more are expected."

My son drove me to work this morning and the roads were pure ice. Alot of the highways were drifted. I agree with the decision of the Janesville School District. Kangaroo if you feel that are roads are ok to drive you can pick up all the kids and take them to school.

kangaroojack: Janesville schools are usually one of the last to close. The kids were in school all day yesterday while all the other school systems, except for Beloit, were not in school. Maybe you didn't notice how terrible the snowstorm was, nor how hard the winds were blowing well past 3am today. Relax over Janesville closing schools for today. It's not the end of the world.

Get a little bit of snow and they close everything. Last I checked, we arent in GA. Dont remember ever getting a "snow day" back in school. Even during the '78 blizzard, dont remember them calling it. Do remember mom calling the school and telling them we wont be in though.

City pulled the plows? Apparently they don't bother to call Mr Whitcomb at the city or they just lie to take a day off
Maybe they should wait for the Gazette statement on city plows to get it right?
Although I make the above statements, the weather is bad and it's the right decision
