Cullen won't run for governor
MADISON—Democratic Sen. Tim Cullen of Janesville today bowed out of the race for governor.
At a news conference in Madison, Cullen said he has concluded he can’t raise the $1 million to $2 million necessary to be competitive in a possible primary against as many as three other people.
Cullen said others who could run to replace Walker in the event of a recall election are better known and have better financial resources than he.
“All of the Democrats who have been mentioned as possible candidates are good people with solid Wisconsin values,” Cullen said. He said he would support the eventual candidate.
So far, only former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk has announced a campaign.
Cullen said he wants to continue his attempts to find common ground between Wisconsin Democrats and Republicans, although he said he’s doing it at a time when the two sides are more sharply divided and angry than he has seen in his lifetime.

It would only take one ad to say Cullen ran from his job and the state and he's out of the race. Smart move on his part.
SarahB1, let's open this fair debate up for everyone.
fair:
1. free from bias, dishonesty, or injustice: a fair decision
2. legitimately sought, pursued, done, given, etc.; proper under the rules
3. marked by favoring conditions; likely; promising
>>>It sounds like Gov Brewer is ahead of the game.

SarahB1, I think your math is off by your own post indicates Governor Brewer is doing a fair to good job by 67% vs 29% poor.
Pres Obama is out there right now saying "fair" is a good thing. Good and Fair 67% approval for Governor Brewer.
Boom!

You really need to get out more and quit reading your lib blogs. I know this is hard for you to understand but there are only a few Madison's & San Francisco's in the world.

Somehow the myth persists that Tim Cullen is a moderate. That must be because he says so despite his recent record (fleeing to IL etc). Any fiscal conservative also needs to look back to has final steps as a school board member. Cullen is one the the architects of the Janesville School systems financial problems. Not long before he left the board, the problem of excessive union custodial absenteeism was discussed. A custodian would call in sick and another custodian would be paid overtime to fill in. The next week the process would reverse. They were playing the system to increase pay without increasing working hours. The mild suggestion was raised to outsource replacement custodial services to prevent this practice and save money. Cullen and Kevin Murray went nuclear and accuesed others of trampling on government employee unions. This was a good preview of what Cullen has done in the State Senate. Do not confuse Cullen's statements or his good old boy friendship with Tommy Thompson with reform.

SarahB1: Az is already a right to work state so I'm pretty sure Gov. Brewers version of Act 10 would pass hands down and your actually right anger is a good motivator - exactly why the recall won't work in WI. More of us are angry over the high wages/benefits and pensions of public union employees.

Cullen not running, good decision on his part. He is at a point where he knows he is like a loose tooth hanging by a thread. One more wrong move and he will be totally knocked out of place. Tim has made enough mistakes in his first year to be a target of a recall himself, and he is WELL AWARE his past will haunt him if he runs. He does look forward to milking the taxpayers for years to come, and that cannot happen unless he cools his engines a little. Now more that ever it is evident that there is not, nor will there be a viable candidate to run against Walker, because the majority of Wisconsin appreciates what he is doing.

I can't understand why Cullen thinks he needs any money. When you listen to the recallers and in particular "Little Boy Tate" from the state lib party, you'd think this election is a cake walk. Doesn't everyone hate the Governor? How could he possibly win? Couldn't Elmer Fudd beat him?
You libs won't be able to vote as many times as you signed the petitions so maybe the Governor has a slight chance. As the infamous Eyster would say, What DO YOU THink?

Richard, my friend. In Wisconsin's storied history, it's so amazing that the greatest two electoral tragedies occurred in the same year. It's a close call, but I'm sure Walker's election as governor has to rank the #1 tragedy of all time in Wisconsin electoral history. But surely, the #2 tragedy was Russ Feingold's loss to Johnson.
I'm hopeful Russ decides to run for Governor and gives the citizens of Wisconsin the opportunity to correct both errors they made in 2010.

Probably a smart move on his part. I think any one of the 14 senators would have a tough time getting elected. A lot of people are plenty p.o.'d at scooter but he won't be easy to beat. In order to beat him in the recall, the winner will have to be able to reach out to a lot of people who are on the fence and too many people are of the mindset that the 14 did something wrong, bad or illegal and will never vote for one of them.
.
I want scooter out as much as the next guy but I will only vote for the right candidate. I won't hold my nose and vote for whoever happens to run against him. I'll stay at home on election day before I'll vote for Falk. The lesser of two evils is still evil.
