Faulty wiring causes garage fire
JANESVILLE TOWNSHIP--Faulty wiring caused a garage fire Saturday afternoon in Janesville Township.
Janesville, Milton and Edgerton fire departments along with deputies from the Rock County Sheriff’s office were dispatched at 2:30 p.m. Saturday to 545 E. Russell Road, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Upon arrival emergency crews saw smoke and flames coming from the north side of the house near the attached garage.
Firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the fire quickly, which limited the amount of damage to the home, owned by Jamie Wiser, who was home at the time of the fire an called 911 when smoke was detected coming from a garage vent, the release said.
Russell Road between Newville Road and Highway 51 was closed while emergency crews were on scene until about 4 p.m.
