Criminologist criticizes Walker ad
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A criminologist says Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s campaign misrepresented his comments about Milwaukee Police Department crime statistics in a campaign ad.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper reported last month that Milwaukee police misclassified hundreds of violent crimes as minor assaults. Walker’s campaign launched an ad accusing his Democratic challenger, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, of lying about the statistics to make the city’s crime rate look better.
The ad flashes a partial quote that criminologist Sam Walker gave the newspaper, saying the misclassifications are suspicious, improper and represent a failure of leadership. The quote is shown next to a photo of Barrett.
Sam Walker says he was referring to police leadership, not the mayor. He says elected officials usually accept data police give them.
Walker campaign spokeswoman Ciara Matthews didn’t immediately return a message.

I myself have been able to disprove many polifact rulings. If you want to talk about taking a statement out of context, contact polifact.
For example: they claimed Walker was false in regards to the teachers losing their jobs. If you read their own statement they -themselves claim if you figured in the teachers that retired on their own, then Walker's statement was true. Since Act 10 less teachers have lost their jobs.
Read more then headlines. Especially from the anything liberal.

The man who said the quote, an expert in criminology, stated that he was referring to the police department management not the mayor it is taken out of context. The quote does speak for it's self, it refers to the department, meaning the police department not city hall.
"That clearly indicates a systemic problem in the department - there has to be a failure of leadership," he said. "If (police) do it in one or two cases, it's not a big deal. If they do it in a large number of cases, it's suspicious and probably improper. It's something that needs to be corrected immediately."

Wigs......They're politicians! I'm sure if we had insight in to what the both the Democrats and Republicans discuss with their largest donors, these statements of Walkers wouldn't even be a blip on their radar. As far as the Koch example is concerned--the liberal radio DJ posing as Koch initially suggested the plants, Walker mitigated it--he definitely didn't do it the right context, but to call that an example of corruption is laughable. As far as the right to work conversation is concerned.......I would guess that a large majority of walker's constituents are in complete agreement with Hendricks perspective on the matter--I know I am.
"Guess you must lack what is needed to think logically"--No, not at all Wigs--I concentrate on the actual legislation that Walker has promoted rather than base my impression on rhetoric and unproven allegations. You might disagree with this approach, but it has always seemed to work well for me!

The quote was taken out of context. When the story broke, the Journal Sentinel contacted Sam Walker he provided a quote in reference to the police department, not the mayor. He then became upset that his quote was being misused to say things that he didn't agree with. If you look at the original article from JSonline, you can see that he is clearly referring to the police department not the mayor.
"That clearly indicates a systemic problem in the department - there has to be a failure of leadership," he said. "If (police) do it in one or two cases, it's not a big deal. How about these facts? (From the data set that Walker is using for HIS job numbers)
-
From December 2010 to December 2011, the average weekly wage in Wisconsin declined.
-
And whatever forward motion on jobs has occurred under Walker, it actually falls short of employment growth during the last year of Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle's administration.
-
The Workforce Development data site shows that during 2010, Doyle's final year, Wisconsin added 32,713 jobs. Almost all were in the private sector. In fact, Wisconsin added more private-sector jobs in Doyle's last year than it did in Walker's first.
