Shopiere Fourth of July celebration starts tonight

Gazette Staff TOWN OF TURTLE Shopiere kicks off its Fourth of July celebration tonight.

Tonight, the Jamie Campbell Band will be playing at the Shopiere Tap, 5227 East County J, Clinton.

However, most of Saturday and Sunday’s events take place at Sweet Allyn Park on County J, Shopiere.

Events include a softball tournament, live music, food vendors, a beer tent and a fireworks display at dusk Sunday.

For kids, there will be several bounce houses, an obstacles course and other activities.

On Saturday, truck and tractor pulls begin 10 a.m. At 1 p.m., a bags tournament will be held.

Janesville’s Dave Wywial will do live woodcarving with his chain saw. Wywial has been carving for more than six years, and uses five chain saws in his work.

The Blacktop Kings will perform on Saturday night in the parking lot behind the Shopiere Tap. Sunday’s events will start with a 5K race at 7:30 a.m. A parade will start at noon and wind through Shopiere.

After the parade, the combine derby and mud bogs will begin.
