Walker: Not trying to poach Illinois companies
CHICAGO (AP) — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says he’s not looking to "poach" businesses from Illinois — an apparent softening of the stance he took last year when he greeted news that Illinois was raising personal and corporate taxes by inviting disgruntled businesses to come to his state.
At a news conference following a Monday speech in downtown Chicago, Walker said he would like Chicago-area companies looking to expand to take a look at Wisconsin.
In 2011, Walker called on Illinois companies to "Escape to Wisconsin" and that they were welcome in his state.
Walker says he had a good working relationship with former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and would like to similar relationship with Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Don't expect to get the real story from Walker on this. Same with Walker's eye on the STATE PENSION SYSTEM...An uneducated Walker wants to mess with the $77 billion dollar pension system. I would imagine he wants a piece of the pie.

Illinois is so bad he won't have to do much to attract businesses to come here. The Illinois Democrats have done everything they could to thumb their noses at job creating businesses.

Why wouldn't he go after them? That's what he should be doing, Illinois is a mess, the timing is perfect. The state of Nevada made a concerted effort to poach California for business about 10 years ago and was very successful at it.

It would be amusing to see a meeting between the two. Mayor of a huge city(population of city and suburbs as big as Wisconsin), former Obama chief of staff, famous hardnose and the guv. Maybe over a fish dinner?

I didn't mean what I said before, I really mean what I'm saying now. Someone seems to have a problem staying consistent.
