Barrett's wife accused of email violations

By ASSOCIATED PRESS   Monday, May 14, 2012 - 6:05 p.m.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee Public School officials say the wife of Mayor Tom Barrett sent three emails last year that violated district policy.

Kris Barrett was a teacher who was laid off by the district along with more than 300 other teachers last June. The emails were first revealed Monday by Media Trackers, a suburban Milwaukee conservative group.

The three emails were sent from a school system account and involved county or state politics
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports district officials did not know about the emails until after Media Trackers requested them.

Tom Barrett is a Democrat running against Republican Gov. Scott Walker in a June 5 recall election. The mayor noted during a campaign stop Monday that the emails had nothing to do with his current campaign.

What is the investigation waiting for put all the evidence on the table let us see it and judge for ourselves if Walker committed a crime or not. Is that what this John Doe investigation really about? Why does this investigation have to be so secret people will figure out what is going on.

RAF,
I'm not sure equality is very subjective. It seems pretty straight forward to me. In fact, it's a mathematical principle. I suppose you do have some supporters, though. While our founding fathers argued that all men are created equal, some people still argued that some men are only 3/5 of a person. I don't advise adopting that argument, though. At the end of the day, the latter turned out to be wrong.

I am still wondering where the rational RAF has gone.

@creatureinthefreezer: I would like to ask two questions. Is there any hope of Wisconsinites accepting the outcome of the recall election and coming together for the good of the state? If not, then what catastrophic event, or leader will both sides rally behind to stop the madness?

I think you just hit on the million dollar question! Regardless of the outcome of the recall, the opposing side will not support the winner of the recall. The name calling, the accusations, the slanderous remarks, the refusal to give credit where credit is due, the unwillingness to compromise will continue and I suspect will get worse. We, as a society just keep digging a deeper hole for ourselves, we refuse to drop the shovel and find a way out of the pit.
The pro-education forces are fighting for more money, the unions want their members and power back, the people want their taxes kept in check, the businesses want more money/less restrictions to attract investors, the Federal government is fighting the State government, Democrats are fighting Republicans, neighbor hating neighbor, States are fighting against other States and still, we refuse to drop the shovel! Each side is so filled with hatred of the other side that they refuse to do anything that they see as a compromise. Who are the losers? We all are. Every year we see a more polarized state/country. Some see the problems and know what the solutions could be, but our ELECTED OFFICIALS and CITIZENS of BOTH parties refuse to compromise. And yet, we continue to fan the fire of hatred as is shown on these blogs…

I really can't believe that any person, from either side of the aisle, could rationally compare a wife sending 3 politically related emails on a work computer to setting up an entire shadow computer network and compelling employees to use that to secretively skirt campaign laws. It is like pointing at grandma going 26MPH in a 25 MPH zone and comparing it to a drunk doing 90 on the same street. I use to vote for the best candidate - Repub. or Dem. - Now I see a man that is lacking in honesty and integrity as governor. So I find the extreme Walker agenda is hurting people and direction of Repub. is shameful. The "DIVIDE & CONQUER" comment that Walker recently made is showing me I cannot trust him. He tells one group of people what they want to hear and the rest something else. This has been documented and my statement is 100% true. Thank you for your thoughts though.

"Politics is no longer about facts, its about picking a team and hoping they'll win."" One of the most spot on comments I have ever heard!! Facts mean nothing anymore. Scott Walker and his people can tell you they are reworking the jobs numbers and you believe them, they tell you that there is now a magical budget surplus, and you believe them! Facts are irrelavant, its about belonging to a club and cheerleading, very sad state of affairs indeed. Never thought Id see the day when Wisconsin was dumbed down like the southern states are, now we are truly headed towards our new name, Wississippi.
