Walker calls Barrett campaign 'desperate'

By ASSOCIATED PRESS   Monday, May 21, 2012 - 12:07 p.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republican Gov. Scott Walker says his challenger Tom Barrett is making a "desperate attack" by requesting that he release more emails from his time as Milwaukee County executive related to an issue being examined as part of a secret investigation.

Barrett on Monday called on Walker to release emails related to a secret wireless Internet system installed near his office, which has been part of the ongoing investigation into county workers doing campaign work during public time.

Walker says he has talked more about the ongoing John Doe probe "more than any person has in the state of Wisconsin." He says Barrett's campaign is "desperate" and trying to distract from other issues in the campaign.

Absolutely no issue with sleeping. I have never blamed someone else for Walker's lies--I just operate under the assumption that when a politician(either democrat or republican) is pandering to an audience, he/she will tell that audience exactly what they want to hear. Whether it's Walker telling Hendricks that he is going to take on the unions or Obama telling his union base at the GM Janesville plant that they will be building cars there for another 100 years. I pay no attention to that and look at what agendas they are using their influence to support and the legislation resulting from those agendas. In the case of Walker, he has reigned in the public worker's unions, pushed concealed carry and voter id legislation, reducing spending on entitlement programs and, for the most part, kept tax increases to a minimum........I support all of these things, therefore it is really easy for me to not lose any sleep supporting Walker........Hopefully that answers your question.

You’re a joke, you demand a full investigation into Barrett? But you feel walker shouldn't have to release why her he HAD to setup a defense fund? walker's staffers have already been charged and convicted. Why isn't walker releasing the whys? What's he hiding? Why would you support someone who is under investigation? Why would you vote for a person who lies under oath? Why does walker have to leave the state begging for funds? Is he seeking out more cash machines like koch bros and hendricks? He’s trying to buy the election. Why would you vote for walker?

If it is taking the DA two years to find anything, get real! How good can the DA be? And wondering where the leaks are coming from? Tom Barrett, of all people (himself an attorney) should know that John Doe investigations can not be discussed while it is ongoing. The plot thickens.

Oh, and:

The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign is out with a new report detailing state budget policies that will benefit business, construction, real estate, transportation and other special interests at a cost to middle- and lower-income taxpayers.

Dubbed “Special Interest Smorgasbord,” the report identifies 55 state budget proposals and legislative bills approved by the GOP Legislature and signed by Gov. Scott Walker.

The new policies will cost the state $334.5 million, mainly in lost tax revenue, beginning in 2013. The amount will rise to $438.9 million by 2021, according to the report.

On Wednesday, the cover story in The Capital Times will look at one of the biggest tax cuts for business -- a $130 million credit that effectively eliminates state income taxes for factory owners but not workers.

So I hope all you Tea Baggers and Walker supporters are factory owners and the 1%.

Are we happy with corporate welfare that isn't directly tied to job creation/expansion? No.....but that pales in comparison to our unhappiness when considering the massive amount of government spending when public workers unions and entitlement programs are concerned. Evidence of this is right in this section with posts condemning taxpayers for not welcoming "just another $200" in property taxes to fund an already overblown public sector payroll. We're already in the top 10 in the country as far as property taxes are concerned--"just another $200" there or "just another $100" here--is the answer these people have for resolving the problem. One of the bills - "a $130 million credit that effectively eliminates state income taxes for factory owners but not workers."

"According to the WDC analysis, those tax breaks and other credits will cost a Wisconsin family of four $235 beginning July 1, 2012, and grow to $291 annually by 2021."

"Meanwhile, groups benefiting from the new policies contributed $23.6 million in campaign contributions to various legislators, mostly to Walker and other Republicans, from 2009 through 2011."

The funny thing is its not like democrats have the gumption to stand up for their convictions as Obama made sure the Bush tax cuts were extended. Democrats and Republicans serve the same corporate masters and we sit on here and fight over which masters we want to serve? Fighting over table scraps while our men and women, sons and daughters, die in unbelievably unnecessary war. While we are defunding education in favor of more and more tax cuts for the wealthiest, cutting essential social problems to the bare minimums while people who are very wealthy get more and more tax cuts!! Defending a health care system that leaves millions of Americans uncovered potentially to not go to the doctor and get treatment for fear of large bills, set up to have crises medically that in the end will drive up rates for everyone else, a very ingenius business model, but very bad for the people that both dont pay for care and for those that do. In the end its the largest bankruptcy problem in the USA.

This country is going to heck in a handbasket, and its all the politicians faults, for a litany of reasons. The funniest parts are that so many of us are responsible for the problems for being lazy and buying the garbage they sell and allowing them to steal a once great nation.

Fedup you do a great job at parroting commercials , showing people what money can buy, your brain and millions of zombies just like you.
Barretts plan? I think he is actually being smart by saying that the policies of the governor arent that easy to just reverse. He has stated that his priority will be to reinstate education funding. That is all I need to hear. Maybe close the do-noting tax breaks trhat the governor seemed to think was going to help him create 10,000 new businesses and 250k New jobs, whoops, epic fail.
At some point cut, cut , cut mentality mixed with corporate tax breaks are not a good recipe for the future of the state. I see another thread with republicans whining about the roads here in Janesville. , whining about safety, many more pissing and moaning about education and schools. What does anyone expect? The same groups of people are asking, infact begging for tax cuts at every turn, but cant wonder why they dont have enough police, the roads suck, and tne schools ,while still producing, are on the downturn(example , lack of district support of high needs kids and behavioral issues all over the district)? Unbelievably hypocritical! But hey Dont take my money for beer and cigarettes! As long as I can save an extra 200 bucks a year on taxes and 66%+ of the businesses dont have to contribute any taxes, we are ok. My answer to the complainers, if you buy riught wing rhetoric about lowwering taxes on the "job creators" and vote based on that crap? Look around, weve had 10+ years of those tax cuts, 2 wars puyt on the credit cared(borrowed from China during Bush years.) and how is the state of the economy?

Scott Walker had a secret wireless Internet system installed near his office and Barrett is to blame. LOL. Everyone knows that if you dig anywhere into Walker's past and communications, you'll come up with a dirty ball of grease and snot. Scott Walker and his whining desperate supporters will do anything to hide the truth and their criminal activities. Get him out of office before the FBI drags him in handcuffs. Wisconsin doesn't need that kind of publicity.

Tommy wants to compare notes with his wife to see how to best use government assets for campaigning. She proved to be pretty good at it during her tenure at MPS. Too bad Scott's too nice to bring it up and The Journal-Sentinel too biased to discuss it.

'He says Barrett's campaign is "desperate" and trying to distract from other issues in the campaign.'

Au contraire, mon ami. This IS a critical issue. Walker would like to make people think it is a distraction. He'd also like to make the John Doe investigators think it is a distraction. Good luck with both of those.

How much detail would you like included in that plan, Saxcat? Would you like it all, or will the "Scott Walker Special" suffice? You know how that one goes -- say one thing to get elected, but conveniently leave out all the damaging and controversial maneuvers?

Exactly SAXCAT, Barrett continues to cast stones, yet has offered no comprehensive and SUSTAINABLE plan himself. Interesting how the national Democratic committee (DNC) doesn't support Barrett nor the recall effort, and actually advised against it. The unions weren't excited about Barrett and only threw their support behind him at the last minute due to no other choice.

Still waiting for Mr Barrett's plan. I've liked what Governor walker has done so far, and will vote for him in June unless I see a better plan.
