Feingold to rally early voting for Democrats
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Former U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold plans to lead an effort to get people to vote early in the Gov. Scott Walker recall election.
Feingold planned to meet with voters Tuesday afternoon in Middleton to increase awareness about absentee voting options, voter registration and other information. Feingold planned to lead the group to the Middleton clerk's office to vote.
A similar event was planned in Eau Claire led by state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout and Pat Kreitlow, a former state senator who is running for Congress in the 7h district.
In-person absentee voting began Monday and runs through June 1.
Walker faces Democrat Tom Barrett in the June 5 recall election. Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and four other Republican lawmakers also face recall votes.

Good day to you too, 916WI. You can make excuses for your deleted comments but it doesn't change a thing. When the Gazette staff finds what they determine to be an inappropriate comment, including racist comments, they delete them. We've seen that today in this thread with two more derogatory comments made about myself that were deleted by the Gazette staff. My comments were clearly not racist and the Gazette staff did not remove them. I value the judgment of the Gazette staff significantly more than the judgment of a few people who have repeatedly made derogatory comments, which were deleted, about my comments and myself.

When the Gazette finds a comment to be racist, they delete it. I'll stand by the judgement of Gazette staff letting my prior remarks stand as proof they were not racist. The Gazette staff has much more credibility than the self-righteous criticisms of people who have repeatedly had comments deleted by the Gazette staff for the same reason which these people falsely accuse me -- derogatory name calling. I well remember the reason their comments were deleted as I was the person referred to in those derogatory comments.
Midnite_Ride, speaking of what the Gazette allows and disallows, your May 23, 2012 at 12:47 p.m. deleted comment was a great demonstration of the latter. So much for righteousness.

Poobah.......Your comment, "Haha, your agreement with RetiredAirForce is both expected and an honor to me, 916WI and Midnite_Ride." is quite consistent with racist mentality. You people bask in your perceived superiority over others.
The "glaring differences in the two examples" are not even remotely related to your argument. Comparing the use of race to offer a physical description of someone who had just committed a crime in an attempt to apprehend that person, to using race to blatantly label an entire group of people in the negative context you attempted to imply is laughable. Although to a racist, I guess the comparison could be easily justified:( Please try and let go of the hate. You'll become a much better person if you do. Good luck.......

Haha, your agreement with RetiredAirForce is both expected and an honor to me, 916WI and Midnite_Ride. When police see a group of suspects that are young, tall and white fleeing the scene of a crime they are not being racist to tell people the suspects are a group of tall young white people. If they were to say white people are tall and young and flee crime scenes that would be racist. But I suspect the glaring differences in those two examples are lost on both of you.
The group of people so fearful of losing their majority and power of control are whites that are older and they are angry. You don't see the same fear and anger amongst younger people. You also don't see it in minority groups as they have never been the majority in this country and haven't had the same level of advantages and benefits that comes with being a member of the majority.

Midnight_Ride, you've surely seen my comments about my disgust with Obama's support of various measures that I feel erode our personal liberties and freedoms. Measures such as SOPA, PIPA and the indefinite detention provision of the NDAA. I know you've read my comments on these issues, because you've responded to them. I'm not sure if you have selected to forget them or if you have a physiological reason for failing to recall them.
That said, I was not referring to the White House. I was referring to angry old white fascists who have managed to elevate their cause in American politics through fear and rhetoric over the last few years. The last stand of many groups, like angry old white fascists, has often wrapped itself in organic nationalistic fascist fervor before quickly fading into history as a small, discredited minority.

Eagle , do you think thats all that is happening to education in Wisconsin? How many other professions have a low ceiling on Wages as teachers do? In Janesville your wages are capped at 15 years of service, is there any other private industries that have that cap? While benefit prices keep skyrocketing and salaries are stagnant, all while retirement benefits are being slashed every way you look, please tell me what young kid will choose 60k of college debt to pursue that career? Not to mention the new little kink thrown in that limits raises to a percentage of a first year teachers salary. If any raises at all. I am calling Johnson dumb becuse I watched the debates between he and Russ and I still dont know how anyone with a clear head voted for the man. First hes not even from Wisconsin. , next, his supposed business wa handed to him by his father-in-law he was by no means self made. He used slave labor from the prisons instead of paying middle class wages, or even low class wages and employing people here in Wisconsin to help with his factory. He claimed to be an independant business owner who hated big-government , yet took forgivable loans from the government to build additions, not really the model of free marketeerism that he preached huh? I also heard him praising free trade deals and also talkingf about how China was a business model that we should model our system after!! Thats right a communist nation!! Foxconn anyone?
Why do I think Johnson is dumb? Because he is. That being said there are a lot dumber people in Wisconsin, voting for this clown. I was advocating for Dave Westlake through the entire process. A republican a veteran and a very bright man. Yet At the primary we were goated inoto this guy?
I also would like to try to understand why you enjoy a senator who claimed to be anti-Washington , or an outsider, to get elected. And now he has disappeared there, never to return. Wouldnt you like a politician who comes and LISTENS to his constituents? Feingold, like him or hate him, had one in EVERY county every year in office. Isnt that what a politician is supposed to do? Or are they just supposed to be cuddling up to special interests in DC , just like he claimed he never would (Johnson)

Funny how every other industry that pays their own benefits doesn't get destroyed yet when teachers are paying a whopping 8%-12% of their salary for their own benefits the whole thing is destroyed in a matter of months. Teachers have done a great job in this state but it isn't the only reason our schools are above average. Wisconsin work ethic has much more to do with it, but that is actually being destroyed by certain groups... look around. Anyone that denies the changes that were made were not positive overall are just lying to themselves and everyone else, even the Dems have come to grips with it, why else would they drop it as a campaign issue?

fera-Wearing thin is what this whole recall is doing to me. One the one hand we are asked to to believe that "Hope and Change" is good from Obama and the Democrats but when a majority of our fellow Wisconsinites decided we wanted a different "Hope and Change" in our state and elected a man that would do that, well you know the rest of the story. I also don't understand would you mean by the Illinois rhetoric-the Democrats can bring up the Koch bros (most of whom never even knew they existed until a year ago, myself included) or the endless John Doe probe which is leaking like a sheave.
Johnson may will prove to be a good Senator but until Harry Reid is gone we may never know as the Senate is dysfunctional. Fear, I don't understand why you are calling Johnson dumb. Because he hasn't had any listening sessions?

poor- I expect better than that from you , the Illinois rhetoric is wearing thin, you may disagree with it, but as a constituent of Senator Cullens I agreed whole heartedly with what they did, if the parties were reversed you would be in here clammoring in a different manner completely, which is why I find this so disingenuous.
All that being said, I am one of Senator Feingold's BIGGEST fans. I liked him as a senator even when I was very conservative not so long ago. Always viewed him as an honest man who had what was best in mind for his constituents and was alwaays willing to go into the lions den and have a discussion, see his listening session in Waukesha county in 2009 during health care debate. BTW how many listening sessions has Johnson had in Wisconsin since upsetting Russ? If you guessed less than one you would be, correct!! NONE!! He is exactly what he said he wouldnt be a Washington insider suckling up to any lobbyist whgo will give him cash. Between he and Walker we have 2 of the absolute dumbest people representing this state in the union, but people like Vato and others see that as a good thing, I digress.
However I am still extremely disappointed that Russ didnt run against Walker in the recall. He could have beaten him soundly and probably been governor for quite awhile. Still dumbfounded why he left Wisconsin with Kathy Falk and Barrett as the main candidates to get Walker out of office? Two failures at state elections!! Very troubling to me. I am sure he has personal reasons , but we need him in Wisconsin very badly. When was the last time Wisconsin had a politician that genuinely cared about Wisconsin, besides Russ? Russ could be making HUGE fortunes all over the world as a Rhodes Scholar and a grad of Oxford, Harvard, UW -Madison, Janesville native who is a man that I want in charge of taking us forward, instead he stays here in Wisconsin. Maybe he wants us to see what republican rule is like so the mistake is never made again. Frankly after the Bush years I was shocked in 2010 that the republican mouthpieces convinced so many that the economy was the fault of the democrats. Seems to me the United States is a very forgetful and very gullible electorate.
