LAKE GENEVA -- Voters decided Tuesday to combine two positions in the city of Lake Geneva, treasurer and deputy clerk.

Those two positions are now elected. The new, combined deputy clerk-treasurer will be appointed by the city council starting in 2014.

The vote was 1,865 for the change in the city’s charter ordinance, with 1,098 opposed.

The city council approved the ordinance change in May, but a petition forced a referendum on the measure.
